Are you an Engineer Intern (EI) with water and wastewater design experience looking for the next step in your engineering career?

A growing engineering consulting firm is seeking a Civil Engineer (EI) to support the planning, design, and construction of water and wastewater

infrastructure projects. This role is ideal for an Engineer Intern who has developed a strong foundation in water and wastewater design and is looking to take the next step toward Professional Engineer (PE) licensure.

You'll work alongside experienced Project Managers and senior engineers on projects that help communities maintain, improve, and expand critical

infrastructure systems. In addition to developing your own technical expertise, you'll have the opportunity to support and mentor developing engineers while building the skills necessary for future project leadership.

What You'll Do

• Support the planning, design, and construction of water and wastewater infrastructure projects
• Perform engineering calculations and technical analyses
• Prepare engineering reports, technical documents, and project deliverables
• Develop and review construction drawings and specifications
• Coordinate with clients, contractors, regulatory agencies, and project stakeholders
• Assist with permitting and regulatory compliance activities
• Conduct field investigations, site visits, and construction support activities
• Collaborate with Project Managers and senior engineers throughout project execution
• Provide guidance and support to developing engineers and project team members

What We're Looking For

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or Environmental Engineering
• Engineer Intern (EI) certification (FE Exam Passed)
• 3-5 years of professional engineering experience with water and wastewater infrastructure projects
• Experience supporting the design of water and wastewater infrastructure projects
• Strong communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Eligible to sit for the PE exam within the next year
• Actively pursuing Professional Engineer (PE) licensure
• Experience with water distribution systems, wastewater collection systems, pump stations, utility infrastructure, or related municipal projects
• Experience coordinating with clients, contractors, and regulatory agencies
• Ability to support and mentor developing engineers

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Fort Wayne, IN.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $45.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
