Mechanical Engineer

DutiesThe duties described are for the full-performance level. At developmental grade levels, assignments will be of more limited scope, performed with less independence and limited complexity. The duties may include, but are not limited to:Develop methods and technologies to reduce the risk associated with workplace exposure and hazards.Review application of numerical methods and computational fluid dynamic modeling to design and evaluate the effect of engineering controls on worker exposure to airborne contaminants.Review design of engineering control studies to reduce or prevent worker exposure to harmful contaminants.Serve as subject matter expert on containment by understanding laboratories engineering controls.Perform on-site inspections to ensure compliance, and that safety standards are met and disseminates safety standards to all staff.Maintain awareness on the latest developments in mechanical engineering.Prepare and distribute comprehensive reports which include discussion of containment objectives; assessment of the adequacy and quality of data used in the analyses.Present results to the scientific community at professional meetings and conferences.Provide subject matter expertise related to program management and direction, history, or regulations as requested by the DASAT Director or delegate.
