Project Manager – Commercial Interiors & Tenant Improvement

A well-established and growing commercial interiors General Contractor is seeking an experienced Project Manager with a strong background in commercial interior construction and tenant improvement to join their team.

This is an opportunity with an established DFW contractor specializing in commercial interiors, tenant improvements, corporate office spaces, renovations, and high-quality commercial build-outs . Their projects include corporate offices, professional services, financial institutions, healthcare, hospitality, retail, and other customized commercial spaces.

They are looking for a Project Manager who takes ownership of projects, understands the details of commercial interior construction, and can successfully manage projects from preconstruction through closeout while maintaining strong relationships with clients, architects, subcontractors, and internal teams.

This is a full-time position with benefits. The ideal candidate will have experience working for a commercial General Contractor, with a strong background in commercial interiors, tenant improvement, renovation, or finish-out construction.

Requirements (Must Have)

• 5+ years of commercial construction Project Management experience
• Experience working for a commercial General Contractor
• Strong experience with commercial interiors, tenant improvement, renovations, or interior finish-outs
• Proven ability to manage projects from preconstruction through completion and closeout
• Experience managing project budgets, financials, subcontractors, schedules, and overall project performance
• Strong understanding of commercial construction documents, plans, specifications, and project requirements
• Experience managing RFIs, submittals, shop drawings, change orders, and project documentation
• Experience with subcontractor buyout, scope review, procurement, and invoicing
• Ability to lead OAC, project, and coordination meetings
• Strong communication skills with owners, architects, engineers, subcontractors, vendors, and internal teams
• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining attention to detail and client service

Candidates with only residential or multifamily construction experience will not be considered.

Responsibilities

• Manage commercial interior construction projects from preconstruction through final completion
• Manage project financials, budgets, contracts, buyout, change orders, work orders, and invoicing
• Review construction documents, plans, specifications, submittals, samples, and shop drawings
• Lead OAC, project, and coordination meetings
• Develop and maintain project schedules while monitoring progress and identifying potential delays
• Coordinate subcontractor buyout, scopes, performance, and progress
• Manage RFIs, submittals, change orders, and other project documentation
• Coordinate closely with Superintendents and field teams throughout construction
• Conduct regular site visits to monitor project progress, quality, safety, and overall execution
• Communicate project updates, challenges, and solutions to company leadership
• Coordinate material procurement and delivery
• Work closely with owners, architects, designers, engineers, tenants, subcontractors, and vendors
• Identify project risks and develop solutions to keep projects on schedule and within budget
• Maintain strong client relationships and help deliver projects that lead to repeat business
• Manage punch list, closeout, warranties, and final turnover

• Strong understanding of commercial interior construction methods and sequencing
• Ability to read and interpret architectural, structural, and MEP drawings
• Strong organizational and time-management skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication
• Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills
• Ability to manage multiple projects and competing priorities
• Ability to work effectively with both office and field teams

Education

Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, Business, or a related field is preferred.

Equivalent commercial construction experience will also be considered.
