In-Home Caregiver / AideSenior Helpers of Greater Grand Rapids is looking for compassionate, dependable individuals who want to help seniors and individuals in need remain safe, independent, and comfortable in their own homes.Responsibilities may include:Assistance with bathing, grooming, dressing, toileting, and personal hygieneAssistance with eating and daily living activitiesAmbulation, mobility assistance, and walking supportAssisting clients to and from bedMonitoring and supporting clients living with Alzheimer's Disease or DementiaLight housekeepingLaundry and linen changesMeal planning and meal preparationHousehold organization and managementApparel selection and dressing assistanceMeaningful conversation and companionshipEmotional support and encouragementPromoting engagement, independence, and quality of lifeTransportation using the client's vehicleRunning errands and accompanying clients to appointmentsMedication reminders in accordance with company policiesPreparing sleeping areasAssisting clients during the night as neededReporting frequent overnight care needs to the officeDocument services and activities within company software systems as required, maintain accurate timekeeping and service documentation, submit all required records by established deadlines, immediately report significant client changes or concerns to the office, and follow all company policies, procedures, training requirements, and care plans.Qualifications include treating every client with dignity, compassion, and respect, communicating effectively and professionally, being dependable, punctual, and trustworthy, demonstrating patience, empathy, and professionalism, adapting well to changing client needs and situations, maintaining strong personal hygiene and professional appearance, working independently without constant supervision, having reliable transportation and the ability to travel to client homes, and being able to work weekends and maintain schedule flexibility.Required qualifications include being 18 years of age or older, authorized to work in the United States, having a valid driver's license with no serious driving violations, reliable transportation available during assignments, ability to read, write, and speak English at an average adult level, ability to complete required training and skills assessments, ability to complete all required health screenings, successful completion of a criminal background check and drug screening prior to employment, and proof of First Aid and CPR certification within 3 months of employment.Preferred qualifications include one or more years of caregiving, home care, healthcare, or related experience, CNA certification, nursing education, healthcare coursework, or similar experience preferred but not required.This position requires the ability to safely assist clients with mobility and transfers, assist clients in and out of vehicles, lift and transport mobility equipment such as walkers and wheelchairs weighing up to 50 pounds, frequently bend, reach, walk, stand, and perform light housekeeping tasks, sit, drive, and travel between client locations, climb stairs as required by client homes, and maintain adequate vision with or without corrective lenses.Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable qualified individuals with disabilities to perform essential job functions.Senior Helpers of Greater Grand Rapids is an independently owned and operated franchise serving the western and northern suburbs of Grand Rapids.
