The role will establish credible structural margins and design guidance across global airframe sizing, wing–pylon and high-lift interfaces, composite and metallic structure, and joints. This position will be based onsite at our South Burlington, VT office location, our Raleigh, NC office. Remote candidates may be considered for a hybrid role, with monthly visits to South Burlington, VT for in person work.How you will contribute to revolutionizing electric aviation:Perform classical and finite element stress analysis of aircraft primary and secondary structures under static, dynamic, ground, pressurization, thermal, and system-interface loadsDevelop global and local finite element models, free-body diagrams, load paths, internal loads, sizing methods, and margins of safetySupport parallel analysis lanes for global sizing and load paths; wing, pylon, and high-lift interfaces; and composites, joints, and local optimizationEvaluate strength, stability, stiffness, local failure, joint, bearing, bypass, buckling, crippling, and fastener-load behavior as applicableProvide timely sizing direction to structural designers and close the design-analysis loop as aircraft geometry evolvesDefine analysis assumptions, methods, allowables, load cases, model-validation needs, and structural test objectivesDocument analysis and technical risk for design reviews, partner interfaces, and future certification planningCoordinate with Loads, Structural Dynamics, Design, Composites, Materials and Processes, Test, Manufacturing, and suppliersMinimum Qualifications:Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related fieldFive or more years of aircraft structural analysis, sizing, or substantiation experienceStrong fundamentals in mechanics of materials, structural stability, finite element analysis, and aircraft load pathsExperience with NASTRAN, FEMAP, HyperMesh, Abaqus, or comparable structural-analysis toolsExperience analyzing metallic, composite, or hybrid aerospace structures and jointsAbility to communicate assumptions, limitations, margins, and design recommendations clearlyMust be a US Person to be considered for the roleAbove and Beyond Qualifications:Transport-category wing, pylon, fuselage, empennage, control-surface, pressure-cabin, or high-lift analysis experienceExperience with composite failure criteria, fatigue and damage tolerance, nonlinear analysis, or structural-test correlationExperience developing methods, automation, or certification-oriented substantiation documentationPhysical Demands and Work Environment:This role requires extended computer work and regular access to office, laboratory, manufacturing, hangar, and structural-test environments. Occasional travel and use of standard personal protective equipment may be required.The wage listed here reflects our best faith estimate for this role. We pay competitively and base compensation on a variety of factors including skills, experience, industry background, and the evolving needs of the role.
