Schedule / Job Type

Contract | Days | 3x12-hour shifts (7:00 AM – 7:30 PM) | Every other weekend required (Saturday/Sunday)

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care on a 56-bed Adult Medical Specialty Unit managing a diverse general medical population including cellulitis, sepsis, dehydration, electrolyte imbalance, syncope, anemia, uncontrolled diabetes, acute respiratory failure, liver failure, kidney failure, and behavioral health and addiction cases
• Maintain nurse-to-patient ratios of 1:4–5 during day hours and 1:5–6 during night hours, collaborating with Patient Care Technicians for vital signs, accuchecks, bladder scans, and ADLs
• Manage and monitor central lines, tracheostomies, and chest tubes as part of routine patient care
• Administer and monitor set-rate drips including Heparin and Lasix; titration of drips is not required
• Operate and monitor respiratory therapy equipment including BiPAP/CPAP for sleep apnea, administer inhalers, and perform suctioning
• Float as needed to other acute care general medical areas including nephrology, neurology, orthopedics, and oncology

Required Qualifications

• Active Illinois RN license, or confirmation that the application process has been initiated
• BLS certification required
• Hands-on experience with central lines, tracheostomies, and chest tubes
• Must comply with a drug-free workplace policy; a negative drug screen for all panels is required
• Candidates with a permanent address within 50 miles of the facility are subject to a local pay rate adjustment

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Prior travel nursing experience on a Med/Surg floor is strongly preferred
• Experience with Epic EMR is highly preferred
• Experience in a Level I Trauma Center may be considered in lieu of travel experience, provided Epic experience is present
