Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Telemetry Duration: 13 Weeks Shift: 12-Hour Nights (Self-Scheduling) Hours per Shift: 36 Hours per Week Experience: 2 Years License: Not Required Certifications: BLS, ACLS, EKG Must-Have: EKG competency Cardiac monitoring experience Groin management Description: Clinical interview required prior to offer. Must pass a dysrhythmia exam within 48 hours of receiving the offer, with a maximum of 2 attempts. Failure to pass in 2 attempts will result in a do-not-use designation for 6 months. Initial simulation lab assessment on the first day of orientation is required. Failure in the simulation lab will lead to dismissal and a do-not-use designation for 6 months. Candidates must not reside within a 50-mile radius of the facility. A driver's license must be provided during submission. Unit has 29 beds in private rooms. Nurse-to-patient ratios are 4-5:1. Remote Monitor Technicians assist; however, RNs must interpret strips and identify rhythm changes. Charge Nurse has no assignment on both day and night shifts. House Supervisors are available in-house 24/7. Nurse aides are present on day shift only; night shift duties are performed by RNs at a ratio of 4:1. Respiratory Therapists are available to assist 24/7. Only CPAP for non-obstructive sleep apnea is permitted on the unit. RNs administer all breathing treatments. Self-scheduling is utilized with shifts posted 4 weeks in advance. Requested shifts may be moved to ensure adequate staffing. Weekend work requires 3 weekend shifts per schedule period. Weekend shift requirement applies to all staff. Holiday rotation is required, including 2 major winter holidays and 1 major summer holiday. Standby shifts may be required, although they occur infrequently. Floating typically occurs within service lines and overflow areas. Travelers may float first, but most will not likely float on this unit. Designated scrub color for RNs is navy blue, with specific requirements for shoes. Travelers report high satisfaction and often return or transition to core staff.
