Director of Estimating

Snapshot / Role Overview
We're seeking a Director of Estimating in Dallas, TX to lead and develop the preconstruction estimating team for large commercial mechanical projects.
- Drive win rates through accurate, competitive cost estimates on complex mechanical projects
- Build and mentor a high-performing estimating team to support regional growth
- Strengthen preconstruction processes that improve project transitions from bid to field
- Support business development by providing strategic pricing on pursuit opportunities Responsibilities
- Direct, coordinate, and supervise the estimating group in preparing detailed cost estimates
- Lead total estimating effort on large, complex mechanical project bids
- Review proposal specifications, drawings, and attend pre-bid meetings to determine scope
- Develop and maintain estimating standards, templates, and productivity databases
- Coordinate with field operations on successful bid transitions and project buyout
- Analyze historical cost data and productivity reports to improve estimating accuracy
- Present estimates and proposals to clients and ownership groups
- Mentor senior and junior estimators to develop team capabilities Requirements
Must-Haves
- 10+ years of mechanical construction estimating experience
- Proven track record leading estimating teams on projects exceeding $5M
- Proficiency with estimating software such as FastPipe, FastDuct, or similar platforms
- Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, materials, and construction methods
- Superior analytical, organizational, and communication skills Nice-to-Haves
- Degree in mechanical engineering, construction management, or related field
- Experience with design-build and negotiated project delivery
- Knowledge of BIM-based quantity takeoff workflows
- Prior supervisory or management experience Compensation & Logistics
