Role Description The Regional Parish Staff Accountant is a full-time, on-site role based in Lansing, MI, providing accounting and financial support to parishes within the region. Day-to-day responsibilities may include processing accounts payable and receivable, maintaining general ledgers, reconciling bank statements, and preparing monthly and annual financial reports. The role involves assisting with budget development and monitoring, ensuring compliance with diocesan financial policies and relevant regulations, and supporting internal controls and audit preparations. The Staff Accountant will collaborate closely with parish leadership and administrative staff, respond to financial inquiries, and help implement best practices in stewardship and resource management. Qualifications Strong accounting skills, including general ledger management, account reconciliations, and financial reporting. Proficiency with accounting software and office productivity tools (e.g., spreadsheets, word processing, and database systems). Knowledge of budgeting, financial analysis, and basic internal control principles. Attention to detail, accuracy in data entry, and ability to prioritize multiple tasks and deadlines. Effective written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain financial information to non-financial stakeholders. Ability to work collaboratively with parish staff and leadership, while maintaining confidentiality and professionalism. Associate or bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
