Lead Operator, Packaging - 2nd Shift

Responsibilities Assists in organizing the resources needed to meet the production schedule, quality, cost and safety objectives. Ensures the efficient operation of assigned production lines. Starts and stops production lines, corrects jams, and makes minor adjustments to the packaging equipment. Monitors the product for compliance with quality standards. Assists with maintaining inventory control of packaging materials, auditing materials received from the distribution center and reconciling materials after production is complete. Understands and operates the Statistical Process Control (SPC) system. Provides verification activities of critical packaging operations, including weights, torques, AQL checks and any other specified quality check. Performs in-process/finished product quality checks during packaging processes. Obtains samples for QC testing and stability. Determines the need to place material on QA hold and issues re-inspection, reprocess, or rework as directed by procedure. Ensures that all safety rules and regulations are followed. Maintains the packaging area in compliance with good housekeeping standards. Maintains a variety of forms and logs. Maintains First In-First Out as supplied from Materials Department. Can perform all duties of a Lead Operator Trainee, Line Operator I and II. Performs Material Handler duties when necessary. Assists in the training of temporaries and new employees to build a highly skilled, productive crew. Qualifications High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required. Minimum 10 to 12 years of related experience.
