We are seeking an experienced  HVAC Installer / Lead Installer to join a reputable West Michigan HVAC contractor on a  direct-hire basis. This role is ideal for a skilled HVAC professional who can lead installations, mentor junior technicians, ensure quality workmanship, and represent the company professionally with residential and/or light commercial customers.

The HVAC Installer / Lead Installer will be responsible for installing, replacing, and commissioning HVAC systems while maintaining a high standard of safety, craftsmanship, and customer service.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead HVAC installation projects from start to finish, including system layout, equipment setup, ductwork, refrigerant lines, venting, wiring, and start-up. 
• Install furnaces, air conditioners, heat pumps, boilers, mini-splits, thermostats, zoning systems, and related HVAC equipment. 
• Review job specifications, blueprints, work orders, and installation requirements before beginning work. 
• Ensure all installations meet local code, manufacturer specifications, company standards, and customer expectations. 
• Supervise and train helpers, apprentices, or junior installers on proper installation methods and safety practices. 
• Troubleshoot installation-related issues and make adjustments as needed. 
• Communicate professionally with customers, dispatch, project managers, service technicians, inspectors, and other team members. 
• Complete required paperwork, job documentation, material lists, and start-up reports accurately. 
• Maintain tools, equipment, vehicles, and job sites in a clean and safe condition. 
• Participate in a rotating on-call schedule as required. 
• Follow all OSHA, company safety, and licensing requirements. 

Required Qualifications

• Prior HVAC installation experience required. 
• Lead installer experience strongly preferred. 
• Valid HVAC licensing required, based on applicable Michigan/local requirements. 
• EPA Section 608 Certification required or strongly preferred. 
• Strong knowledge of HVAC installation practices, electrical basics, ductwork, refrigeration piping, venting, and combustion safety. 
• Ability to read blueprints, schematics, installation manuals, and technical drawings. 
• Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record. 
• Ability to lift heavy equipment, work in attics, crawlspaces, basements, rooftops, and varying weather conditions. 
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail. 
• Professional communication skills and a customer-focused attitude. 
• Must be dependable, safety-minded, and able to work independently or lead a small crew. 

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with both residential and light commercial HVAC installations. 
• Boiler, hydronics, geothermal, or mini-split installation experience. 
• Experience mentoring apprentices or junior installers. 
• Familiarity with West Michigan building codes and inspection requirements.

Schedule

• Full-time position 
• Monday–Friday schedule with occasional overtime as needed 
• Rotating on-call schedule required
