Job Title: Cardiovascular Technologist Profession: Cardiovascular Technology Specialty: Cardiovascular Technology Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Day Shift Hours per Shift: 10 hours Experience: Heart experience required; EPIC experience required License: Not specified Certifications: - National Board of Surgical Technologists or Association of Surgical Technologists certification preferred - Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification or Basic Life Support (BLS) certification preferred Must-Have: - Associate Degree or Certificate of Program Completion in Surgical Technology required - Relevant acute care experience preferred Description: Facilitates physician performance of invasive and therapeutic and diagnostic procedures. Handles instruments, supplies, and equipment necessary during surgical procedures. Ensures quality patient care during operative procedures and constantly monitors the maintenance of the sterile field. Verifies surgery to be performed with consent forms and brings patients to assigned operating rooms. Passes instruments to surgeons during procedures. Anticipates surgeons' needs for additional supplies. Performs appropriate counts with the circulator prior to the operation and before incision closure. Prepares sterile dressings and secures dressings after incision closure. Checks supplies and equipment needed for surgical procedures. Obtains appropriate sterile and unsterile items needed for procedures. Sets up sterile tables with instruments, supplies, equipment, and medications/solutions needed for procedures. Helps drape sterile fields and cleans and prepares instruments for terminal sterilization. Assists other team members with cleaning rooms for turnover. Assists in prepping rooms for the next patient. Performs other job-related duties as assigned. Commits to safety and wellbeing of patients and associates. Requires all associates to receive all required vaccinations as a condition of employment. Medical and religious exemptions may apply. Participates in E-Verify process. Acknowledges understanding of E-Verify Participation and Right to Work notices. Staffing ratios: Days: 2 RNs and 2 STs per room. Nights: 1 RN and 1 ST on Call. Weekends: 1 RN and 1 ST on Call. Schedule requirements: Call required weekdays from 1500-0630. Weekend coverage: 24 hours (0630-0630). Special equipment: Equipment for open heart surgery. Special procedures: CABG, VATS, PeriCardio window, VATS MAZE. Scrubs provided.
