A/C Mechanic II

Job Summary Perform installation and maintenance of components used in campus heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) systems and related equipment including chilled water, refrigeration, air compressor, gas heater, air drier, fume hoods, and pumps. Provide work direction to lower level mechanics and maintenance personnel. Responsibilities Install, repair, replace, operate, maintain, calibrate, test, and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and plumbing components used in HVAC. Perform preventive maintenance on HVAC equipment. Troubleshoot pneumatic, electrical, and digital controls. Purchase and account for HVAC related parts and materials. Work with specialized computer applications. Provide work direction to mechanics and maintenance personnel related to HVAC system installation and maintenance. Perform other duties as assigned. Educational Requirements High school diploma, GED Certificate or Vocational School Diploma. Required Qualifications Universal CFC Refrigerant Recovery License. Position may require working around or on rotating machinery, live electrical circuits, hazardous materials, high-pressure liquids and gas, and hot surfaces. May require lifting objects up to 75 pounds, working in confined spaces, noisy environments, and elevated locations, either inside or outside of a building. May require extensive after hours work or call-backs. Job may require wearing a full-face respirator. Required Experience Four years of job-related experience. Preferred Qualifications State of Georgia Unrestricted HVAC License. Preferred Educational Qualifications Technical Diploma, Associate's Degree or two years college coursework. Skills / Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Intermediate level (journeyman/master) knowledge and skills for installing and maintaining compressors, fans, bearings, belts, dampers, motors, starters, controls, 208, 200, and 460 service, 24 volt-DC service, coils and piping. Ability to read prints, drawings, and schematics via paper copies and computerized software systems. Ability to operate machine tools, motor vehicles (may include forklift), hand/power tools, and hydraulic/pneumatic equipment. Ability to troubleshoot and sequence tasks for specific assignments.
