Clinical Specialist - North Liberty Rehab Therapies

The North Liberty Hospital department of Rehabilitation Therapies is looking for a Clinical Specialist to evaluate, interpret and treat patients with physical and behavioral dysfunctions, disorders, or injuries. Contribute to the practice of rehabilitation therapies through leadership in the development, implementation, presentation and publication of clinical techniques, theory and research.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Perform advanced evaluation and treatment procedures for patients with complex problems requiring specialized training.
  • Provide quality patient care including evaluation, assessment and treatment.
  • Introduce new or improved rehabilitation therapy methods and procedures for evaluation and treatment of patients.
  • Maintain patient records that will permit objective assessment of treatment effectiveness and outcome.
  • Design, conduct and participate in research appropriate to clinical practice.
  • Publish and disseminate the results of research or other scholarly activities.
  • Serve as a clinical resource for departmental staff and students in addition to physicians and other health care professionals.
  • Orient, train and supervise rehabilitation staff and students regarding clinical care and research.
  • Provide community outings for patients on a regular basis which requires the use of a hospital vehicle. Driving record will be reviewed on a regular basis by Risk Management.
  • Perform other special projects as assigned.
  • Maintain effective working relationships with faculty, staff, students and the public.

Qualifications:

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • A Master's degree or equivalent, (i.e. baccalaureate degree with professional certification as an advanced specialist in an area of practice requiring significant didactic and clinical knowledge and accomplishment.)
  • A Ph.D. in an appropriate discipline (Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Recreation Therapy, or Education) is highly desirable.
  • Considerable (3-5 years) experience in a Rehabilitation Therapies discipline is required.
  • Demonstrated research experience and knowledge is required.
  • Professional certification and licensure (as required) in at least one of the professions represented within the Department of Rehabilitation Therapies (i.e. physical therapy, occupational therapy, recreation therapy, education).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required.
