Lifeguard/Swim Instructor

Lifeguard/Swim Instructor Mid-Island Y JCC – The Center of it all is looking for part‑time Lifeguards for our indoor pool. We offer a competitive salary to all staff members. Certain part‑time staff members (anyone working over 20 hours a week) receive program discounts. We also provide paid sick time as well as flexible work schedules. Key Areas of Responsibility Patrol areas and observe activities, enforce safety rules, regulations, and crowd control functions to prevent accidents or injuries. Assist and/or carry out rescue of helpless swimmers, administer first aid and apply resuscitation measures when necessary. Keep first aid supplies and resuscitation equipment ready for immediate use. Maintain guard station and pool area in a clean and orderly manner. Participate in training and conditioning drills in swimming, lifeguarding, and first aid skills. Prepare accident reports. Required Education and Experience American Red Cross Lifeguard Training certification Nassau County Lifeguard Certification CPR for the Professional Rescuer certification First Aid certification AED Certification Ability to successfully complete a practical interview Continuing possession of all minimum required certification Knowledge and Skills Knowledge of first aid, rescue, and resuscitation techniques and equipment. Knowledge of rules and regulations governing the use of water facilities. Consideration swimming skill. Ability to respond effectively in emergency situations.
