Maintenance Technician

Position Summary The Maintenance Technician is responsible for ensuring equipment uptime through timely, in‑depth troubleshooting and repair. The Technician performs troubleshooting and repair of all production equipment including injection molders, blow molders, fillers/cappers, labelers, case packers, conveyors, palletizers, and stretch wrappers. The Technician also handles facilities and auxiliary equipment such as chillers, air compressors, Reverse Osmosis, other water filtration equipment and general plant maintenance. The Technician works directly with machine operators, supervisors, preventative maintenance mechanics and senior maintenance technicians to resolve mechanical issues that arise during shift, and proposes solutions to complex and recurrent problems to senior mechanics and management. Schedule: 2‑2‑3 rotation. Position is potentially for nights. Pay: $30 – $37 per hour. Essential Functions Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems using schematics, technical drawings, and testing equipment. Repair equipment, fixtures, systems, conveyors, and other facility equipment. Modify, lubricate, diagnose, and operate equipment in accordance with Niagara’s defined processes. Maintain industrial control systems. Work independently and with other team members to complete repairs safely and timely. Occasionally fill in for production operator as needed. Create and report repairs throughout the shift, completing required work‑order paperwork and documenting parts and material usage. Understand and follow plant safety rules, including safe lifting practices and safe machine operation; use personal protective equipment when required. Maintain regular and predictable attendance to ensure equipment and facility uptime. Qualifications Minimum qualifications 4 years of experience in field or similar maintenance environment. 4 years of experience in the position. 4 years of experience managing people/projects. Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and resolve issues across multiple departments. Basic experience with Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook. Effective communication of issues and solutions to cross‑functional team members. Ability to read and interpret electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic schematics. Proficient with shop equipment such as hydraulic and mechanical presses, bench grinder, drill press, mill and lathe, and assorted power tools. Proficient with precision measuring equipment such as calipers, dial indicators, bore gauges, and depth gauges. Willingness to be a technical leader and trainer within a specific area of the plant or machine center. Will need own toolbox and basic tools. Preferred qualifications 6 years of experience in field or similar manufacturing environment. 6 years of experience working in the position. 6 years of experience managing people/projects. Experience in high‑speed manufacturing, bottling, beverage, packaging, or plastics industries. Experience with technologies such as variable frequency drive (VFD), servo drives, and servo motor. Experience with rotary equipment such as rotary press or filler. Knowledge of thermodynamics, heat transfer, or plastics processing. Experience with Krones, Sidel, or Husky equipment. Experience with HVAC including chillers and/or air compressors. Experience working with electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic schematics for troubleshooting. Skilled in fabrication capabilities such as cutting and welding (MIG, TIG, or stick). Skilled working with electrical systems including 480 VAC & 24 VDC power. Ability to read and interpret schematics for process and instrumentation diagrams. Skilled in the repair of variable frequency drives, servo motors and controllers, communication systems (ASI‑bus, CAN‑bus, PROFI‑bus, Ethernet), PLC input/output cards, and safety modules.
