From delivering safe drinking water and treating wastewater responsibly to developing sustainable water supplies and protecting lives and property through flood control, your work will directly support public health, environmental sustainability, and infrastructure resilience. Key Responsibilities Serve as a strategic expert with recognized authority in water and wastewater systems and utility operations. Provide professional consultation around asset management, operational, and water and wastewater infrastructure challenges. Plan, direct, and manage projects to solve water and wastewater utility challenges. Plan, organize, and supervise the work of staff of professionals and technicians as needed. Serve as Project Manager on projects as needed, including tracking project budgets, monitoring financial performance, and aligning resources to keep deliverables on time and within scope. Build and maintain lasting client relationships, taking part in marketing, contract negotiations, and project delivery meetings. Lead internal and external meetings, workshops, and technical discussions to align stakeholders and drive progress. Perform technical analyses and prepare clear, concise technical reports. Mentor and provide leadership to junior staff with a focus on developing strong technical skills in water/wastewater engineering. Support firm-wide initiatives and perform additional responsibilities as needed. Preferred Qualifications Master’s degree in engineering, Business, or Related Field Knowledge of ArcGIS, Power BI, and/or SQL Server Experience in the A/E/C industry, local candidates are preferred Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in related field A minimum of 5 years related experience Efficient use of the internet and other electronic and hard copy media for research Strong Microsoft PowerPoint, Word, Project and Visio skills Expert Microsoft Access and Excel skills Strong analytical skills with the ability to compile and present summary level information Ability to obtain, cleanse, merge and analyze data from multiple sources Excellent interpersonal skills and strong relationship, organizational and follow-up skills Self-starter with proven track record of accomplishments An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must Primary Location: United States-North Carolina-Winston-Salem Other Locations: United States-North Carolina-Charlotte, United States-North Carolina-Raleigh, United States-North Carolina-Wilmington, United States-North Carolina-Asheville Industry: Water Schedule: Full-time Employee Status: Regular Business Class: Utility Management Services Job Posting: Jun 30, 2026 At HDR, we are committed to the principles of employment equity.
