Inventory Technician

TechnicianThe Inventory Technician plays a crucial role in maintaining the smooth operation of the District's Inventory System. The Inventory Technician will supervise the daily activities of the Maintenance Department inventory to ensure safe and efficient receipt, storage, retrieval, and distribution of District supplies and assets.Major responsibilities and duties include:Overseeing receipt of shipments; process receiving, discrepancy, and damage reports as needed.Overseeing storage of all maintenance department supplies, equipment, designated records, and consumable materials.Overseeing maintenance of computerized inventory records.Maintaining appropriate stock levels of supplies.Developing procedures and forms for the requisitioning of materials/supplies by District personnel.Interpreting and filling requisitions for stock items; verifying accuracy of orders pulled.Maintaining a safety program for all inventory control employees.Maintaining safety and fire prevention equipment as required by law and District policy.Recommending additions and deletions from the inventory as needed.Coordinating with district staff the receiving of furnishings and supplies for new facilities.Developing procedures for the effective distribution of departmental mail, supplies, and materials.Establishing and training all inventory control personnel on security and safety requirements.Establishing safety procedures and techniques to perform job duties including lifting, carrying, etc.; ensuring daily safety inspections are performed as required.Establishing security procedures.Correcting unsafe conditions in work area and reporting any correctable situations to supervisory personnel immediately.Under the direction of the supervisor, supporting the direction of the work of assigned employees.Ensuring all controlled areas are locked at all times when not occupied; controlling access to the inventory storage facilitator and vehicles as required.Operating tools, equipment, and vehicles according to prescribed standards; following established safety procedures and techniques to perform job duties including lifting, carrying, etc.Preparing technical reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends, tracking statistics on issue and problem resolution.Maintaining confidentiality.Maintaining excellent working relationships and communicating effectively with all District personnel and the community.Developing and maintaining systems for retrieval of information in support of all programs; compiling, maintaining, filing, and securing all physical and computerized reports, records, and other required documents.Pursuing Professional Development activities for self and ensuring that Professional Development activities are aligned with District goals and initiatives and current professional research.Complying with all policies, operating procedures, legal requirements, and verbal and written directives.Complying with the Professional Code of Ethics and Standard Practices for Texas Educators.Following District safety protocols and emergency procedures.Performing other related duties as assigned.Qualifications include:High School DiplomaValid Driver's License with record of safe drivingTwo (2) related experienceSpecial knowledge/skills/abilities include:Knowledge of inventory control and tracking systemsGeneral knowledge of network and personal computerAbility to operate hand tools, mechanical, and electrical equipmentEffective communication skillsAbility to operate light trucks and tow trailersAbility to maintain and operate computerized document production equipmentAbility to oversee timely delivery of quality technical support service to clientsStrong organizational skillsSupervisory responsibilities include:Assigned staff under the direction of supervisorMental/physical demands and environmental factors include:Tools/Equipment Used: Operation of light trucks and tow trailers, hand tools, mechanical and electrical equipment, standard office equipment including personal computer and peripheralsPosture: Continual walking, reaching, kneeling; prolonged standing; bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, and twistingMotion: Repetitive hand motions, frequent keyboarding and use of mouse; occasional reachingLifting: Occasional lifting and carrying 50 to 80 poundsEnvironment: May work prolonged or irregular hours; Districtwide travel; exposure to dampness, humidity, and slippery and uneven walking surfaces; work to be completed on-site from assigned school or building; regular exposure to noise and computer monitors; no remote workMental Demands: Work with frequent interruptions; maintain emotional control under stress work; prolonged or irregular hours
