The job of Behavioral Aide is done for the purpose of assisting students with behavioral, emotional, and/or developmental needs in order to promote academic achievement, positive social interactions, and successful participation in the educational environment. The Behavioral Aide assists in implementing behavior intervention plans, monitors and documents student progress, supports students in developing appropriate behavioral and social skills, and provides individualized assistance. The position also supports teachers and other instructional staff by reinforcing behavioral expectations, facilitating student engagement, and contributing to a safe and productive learning environment.

This is a 10-month position. Behavioral Aides are eligible for benefits as listed below.

Hours

• Monday through Friday
• Start and end time varies based on school assigned

Pay

Behavioral Aide - $19.90 - $24.97 per hour (based on relevant work experience)

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent; Associate's Degree preferred.
• DESE approved paraprofessional test or 60 college credit hours or the 20 hour Substitute Certificate course.
• Completion of the LPS Behavioral Aide Development Program within 90 work days of hire.
• Must pass a pre-employment background check.

The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require the following physical demands: significant lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling, some climbing and balancing, significant stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling and significant fine finger dexterity. Generally the job requires 10% sitting, 50% walking, 40% standing. The job is performed under minimal temperature variations and in a generally hazard free environment.
