Sr. Liability Claims Adjuster (HYBRID)

Responsibilities Investigate Claims Investigate the circumstances of property or liability claims or incidents reported by company members and assigned by the Claims Manager. Conduct investigations through direct contact with member staff via phone, email or field visits as needed. Collect evidence and information through interviews, property inspections, document review, and report analysis. Investigate and assess damage to property. Prepare a report of findings. Evaluation and Administration of Claims Examine claims information to establish coverage under Memorandum of Coverage. Analyze investigative data and recommend actions. Assist members with claims decisions under the Governmental Claims Act. Evaluate subrogation potential and overall liability. Strategize cost‑effective processing and resolution of claims. Maintain and review expense and indemnity reserves within authority limits. Approve payments for claim expenses. Attempt to resolve claims prior to litigation and seek settlement authority as necessary. Participate in monthly claim management meetings, mediations, settlement conferences, and trials. Provide direction to defense counsel and compile evidence for litigation. Electronic File Documentation Input and maintain claim data in the claims system per guidelines. Maintain file notes and correspondence in the system. Keep a diary of assigned claims to ensure timely, cost‑effective management. Maintain reasonable reserves based on current claim information. Other Perform other related duties as assigned. Reporting relationship and essential duties may be revised by the CEO. Qualifications & Skills High school diploma or GED required; bachelor’s or associate degree preferred. At least 10 years of claims administration experience handling property and/or liability claims. Extensive knowledge of litigation management techniques for litigated or subrogated claims. Extensive knowledge of state and federal laws, regulations, and case law affecting governmental entities and risk management. California claims adjusting license preferred but not required. Desired Skills and Experience General liability experience, ideally with bodily injury. At least 2 years in litigation and injury claims. At least 3 years of injury claim experience; fatalities indicate extensive injury experience. Experience with public entity claims is a huge plus. Experience with sexual assault, bullying, and related claims is a plus.
