Together, you’ll help shape and deliver modern data products that make critical firm data easier to discover, access, govern, and use effectively.WHERE YOU’LL FIT WITHIN THE TEAMAs a Manager, Data Product, you’ll be responsible for the vision, implementation, and adoption of features and functionality across one larger or several smaller data products.You’ll represent the voice of the customer, translating business needs into a clear product roadmap and prioritized backlog. You’ll work at the intersection of business, product, and technology to maximize customer value while helping establish scalable standards for how data is structured, governed, accessed, and delivered across Bain.WHAT YOU’LL DOProduct Planning & Stakeholder Engagement (50%)Translate the high-level roadmap established by the Product Manager into a clear and actionable sequence of workMaintain continuous communication with business and technology stakeholders to ensure alignment and make informed decisions as priorities evolvePartner with stakeholders to translate data needs into well-defined data domains, schemas, and access models within Databricks, balancing discoverability with appropriate governance and permissionsDevelop a deep understanding of customer segments, goals, and the value customers derive from the product, while identifying future opportunitiesCoordinate between business stakeholders and data owners to facilitate approvals for sensitive or restricted datasetsMeasure customer value and business outcomes through pilots, surveys, sprint reviews, KPIs, and other feedback mechanisms, adapting the roadmap as needs evolveDevelop and execute end-user communication, marketing, and training strategiesPartner with Product Owners, Solution Architects, and Engineering Managers to identify synergies across products and reduce friction for end usersHelp establish scalable standards, guardrails, and best practices for data platform delivery, including schema design conventions, data domain structures, and access and permission frameworks within DatabricksProduct Delivery (40%)Inspire product teams by clearly communicating the product vision and underlying business purposeMaintain and continuously prioritize the product backlog based on business value and roadmap objectivesPartner with technical teams and third parties to deliver feature releases, upgrades, and platform optimizationsIdentify high-usage data assets and pipelines and establish proactive monitoring to ensure reliable data availabilityOversee the intake, prioritization, and delivery of new data domains, enhancements, defects, and maintenance requests through a shared backlogFor internal products, develop user stories and acceptance criteria at the appropriate level of detail and continuously improve them based on team feedbackActively participate in relevant Agile ceremoniesMonitor emerging technologies, including AI, to identify opportunities for greater efficiency and business valueMay manage temporary or rotational staff, including interns or contractors, to support deliveryDomain Knowledge (10%)Develop and maintain expertise in relevant Bain practices and external market trendsBuild sufficient technical understanding to partner effectively with technical product management teams and help shape technology strategyDevelop working knowledge of Bain’s core data domains, including Finance, Talent Acquisition, Client, and Case data, to effectively prioritize requests and advocate for stakeholder needsABOUT YOURequired QualificationsBachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience5+ years of experience in data delivery, data warehousing, or related areas.Strong understanding of data warehousing, data platforms, data integration, and translating business requirements into technical data engineering requirementsDirect experience with modern data platform technologies, with Databricks preferredStrong understanding of Agile methodologiesFamiliarity with data governance concepts, including data domains, access controls, data ownership, approval workflows, and Databricks Unity CatalogFamiliarity with data quality frameworks and proactive monitoringStrong prioritization and organizational skills, with the ability to meet deadlines in a dynamic environmentAbility to influence cross-functional stakeholders at different levels of seniority and build consensusStrong communication skills, with the ability to translate complex requirements for engineering teams and communicate strategic direction to leadershipAbility to understand complex business needs and industry trends and translate them into customer-facing solutionsStrong analytical skills and ability to prioritize based on business valueDemonstrated leadership mindset and ability to positively the Chicago or Boston office.U.S. COMPENSATION INFORMATIONCompensation for this role includes base salary, annual discretionary performance bonus, 401(k) plan with an annual employer contribution based on years of service and Bain’s best in class benefits package (details listed below).Some local governments in the United States require a good-faith, reasonable salary range to be included in job postings for open roles.
