The successful candidate will have the opportunity to play in a role in various commercial space endeavors with our partners that include NASA, Intuitive Machines, Axiom Space, Lockheed Martin, and others.ResponsibilitiesThe Mechanical Engineer will:Lead the design of the structural and mechanical components and assemblies of critical, cutting-edge spaceflight systems, establishing technical approaches, evaluating trade studies, and ensuring system-level integration and performanceDelivery of high-quality models, documentation, and drawings that meet customer requirements and engineering standardsReview and approve models and drawings of other engineersPerform preliminary analysis (FEA and hand calculations) to demonstrate compliance with spaceflight design standardsFacilitate the manufacturing, assembly, and delivery of spaceflight hardwareServe as a primary technical interface with customer counterparts, requirement owners, suppliers, and integrated product teams to define requirements, resolve technical issues, and promote mission success.QualificationsRequired Education/Experience/Skills:BS degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering from an accredited engineering school, plus ten (10) years of related engineering experienceDemonstrated experience leading mechanical design efforts through the full product lifecycleExpertise in complex assemblies, hardware development, and production support.Applied experience using CAD modeling software (Creo, NX, SolidWorks, etc.)Applied experience creating engineering drawings to ASME Y14.5 (GD&T)Project management or other leadership experienceExperience working on cross-discipline engineering teamsExcellent communication skills (in both written and verbal), integration, coordination and presentation skillsPreferences:Working experience with spaceflightApplied experience using FEA modeling software (Ansys, Simcenter, etc…)Experience in a manufacturing environmentExperience with requirement development, decomposition, documentation, and reviewExperience developing technical documentationWorking experience with WindchillWorking experience with product lifecycle management softwareMaster of Science degree in EngineeringEssential Requirements:Must be a U.S. Citizen and successfully complete a U.S. government background investigation.Applicant selected may be subject to government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.Work may involve sitting for extended periods.May require lifting and carrying up to 25 lb.Must have sufficient mobility to enter areas of test facilities where necessary.Generally, an office environment but can involve inside or outside work depending on task.Standard office equipment (PC, telephone, fax, etc.)Regular attendance in accordance with established work schedule is critical.Ability to work outside normal schedule and adjust schedule to meet peak periods and surge requirements when required.Must be able to work in a team atmosphere.Must put forward a professional behavior that enhances productivity and promotes teamwork and cooperation.Grooming and dress must be appropriate for the position and must not impose a safety risk/hazard to the employee or others.This position may require some commuting and traveling to other installations as needed.Barrios Technology is a drug-free workplace, which is imperative to the health and safety of all employees and is required as a condition of receiving contracts from federal agencies.
