AMC | Certified Medical Assistant - OB/GYN

Overview: Join a dedicated healthcare team supporting physicians and licensed medical staff in a busy outpatient OB/GYN clinic located in the Southeastern United States. This role involves both clinical and administrative duties to ensure smooth patient care and office operations.

Key Responsibilities:

Assist with obtaining patient vital signs and update medical records accurately.
Collect and process lab and pathology samples following established protocols.
Perform quality and safety checks on testing equipment and supplies.
Provide patient education under provider guidance.
Administer treatments, dressing changes, medications, and therapies as directed by licensed providers.
Support providers during procedures and examinations.
Prepare and handle reusable instruments for sterilization.
Manage biohazard and pharmaceutical waste disposal according to OSHA standards.
Maintain a clean and safe patient care environment by adhering to infection prevention standards.
Assist with front desk duties including greeting patients and scheduling appointments.
Support billing and coding processes by assisting with ICD and CPT input.
Coordinate with external healthcare partners to facilitate patient care plans.
Monitor electronic communication systems and respond promptly.
Perform components of well visits and scheduled nursing visits as directed.
Complete all required documentation prior to provider visits.
Perform high-level disinfection tasks as needed.
Flexibility to float to other clinics as assigned.

Education and Experience:

High school diploma or equivalent required.
Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program with national certification (e.g., CMA, RMA, CCMA) is mandatory.
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association required.
Preferred: Minimum of 1 year clinical experience in an outpatient setting.

Skills and Abilities:

Ability to recognize and respond to life-threatening situations promptly.
Strong communication skills for interacting with patients, staff, and providers both in person and via phone.
Physical capability to perform clinical tasks including standing, walking, bending, and lifting.
Comfortable handling potentially infectious materials with appropriate precautions.
