The Opportunity:

As the Forney Operations Manager, you will oversee the operations of our coating plant, ensuring safe and efficient production and adherence to quality standards. You will be responsible for managing a team of production staff, implementing process improvements, and maintaining a safe working environment.

How you will impact Smurfit Westrock:

Key Responsibilities:

1. Operations Management:

• Ensure compliance with safety regulations and company policies.

• Supervise and coordinate daily activities of the plant to meet production goals and KPI\u2019s.

• Monitor production schedules and adjust workflow to optimize productivity.

1. Quality Assurance:

• Implement quality control measures to maintain product quality and consistency.

• Conduct regular inspections and audits to identify areas for improvement.

• Address quality issues promptly and implement corrective actions

1. Team Leadership:

• Lead, motivate, and develop a team of production staff, including training and performance management.

• Foster a positive work environment that encourages teamwork and accountability.

1. Process Improvement:

• Identify opportunities for process optimization and efficiency improvements.

• Implement new technologies or methodologies to enhance production capabilities.

• Collaborate with engineering and maintenance teams on equipment upgrades and maintenance schedules.

1. Budget and Cost Control:

• Manage operational expenses within budgetary constraints.

• Monitor material usage and waste to minimize costs and maximize efficiency.

1. Reporting and Documentation:

• Prepare regular reports on production metrics, quality performance, and operational efficiencies.

• Maintain accurate records of production activities, inventory levels, and equipment maintenance.

What you need to succeed:

Required Skills and Qualifications:

• Bachelor\u2019s degree in engineering, Manufacturing, or a related field (preferred).

• Proven experience (5 years) in a manufacturing or production management role,

preferably in coating or similar industries

• Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and develop teams.

• Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities.

• Solid understanding of ISO quality management systems and regulatory requirements.

• Proficiency in MS Office suite and ERP systems.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Certification in Lean Six Sigma or other process improvement methodologies.

• Experience with continuous improvement initiatives (e.g., Kaizen, 5S).

• In-depth knowledge of extrusion coating processes, equipment, and materials.
