Job Description

The Registered Nurse (RN) maintains the delivery of quality care by ensuring the nursing care plan is followed. The RN supervises Licensed Practical Nurses and Certified Nursing Assistants. The RN will actively promote a patient and employee safety focus.

Responsibilities

• Conduct thorough nursing assessments on all patients within 8 hours of admission to inform individualized care plans.
• Identify and address teaching needs and goals related to each patient's diagnosis.
• Participate in interdisciplinary team conferences to communicate patient status and care plans.
• Utilize the nursing process for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating patient care with a focus on education.
• Initiate discharge planning from the day of admission and patient teaching in anticipation of discharge.
• Communicate changes in patient status among care providers to ensure continuity of care.
• Provide direction, training, and supervision to ancillary nursing personnel.
• Ensure personal and environmental safety in accordance with hospital policies.
• Contribute positively to unit functioning and participate in team-building activities.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• BLS Certification required prior to the first shift.
• ACLS Certification required prior to the first shift (CIRH ONLY).
• Minimum of two (2) years of bedside clinical experience is required.
• Active RN license in the state of application is desired.
• Recent ICU experience is highly desired.
