Duties include Arterial Blood Gases, Intubation, Nebulizer Therapy, Stress testing, Cardiopulmonary Rehabilitation, Durable Medical Equipment, Oxygen Therapy, Ventilator Management, Patient Education, and adherence to respiratory departmental protocols. The Respiratory Therapist must manage time effectively, work under stress, use ethical judgment, integrity, honesty, dependability and accountability. Collaborates with interdisciplinary team members to develop, implement or evaluate treatment. Responsibilities Conduct intake assessments via interviews, maintain accurate reports, record patient data, assess urgent/emergent conditions using physiological and technological data, collaborate with team members. Perform emergency medical procedures including BLS, ACLS and other stabilizing interventions. Set up and operate mechanical ventilators, therapeutic gas apparatus, pulmonary function testing, holter monitors, PAP therapy devices, aerosol generators following prescribed parameters. Obtain specimens for lab work, arterial blood gas samples following universal precautions, interpret and relay results to physician, administer medications, monitor patient response, address reactions/side effects. Educate patients and families about conditions, disease management techniques, breathing exercises, medication use, respiratory equipment. Inspect, clean, test and maintain respiratory therapy equipment, order repairs when necessary. Serve as a role model and resource person, exemplify organizational mission, act as trusted leader. Recent graduates from a Respiratory program may be considered. Education Graduate of an AMA approved Respiratory Care program or equivalent. Licensure/Certification - Current Licensure from New Mexico to practice as a Respiratory Care Practitioner. Registered by the National Board for Respiratory Care as a Registered Respiratory Therapist. Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification required.
