As the Environmental, Health, Safety & Security (EHSS) Specialist, you will be responsible for implementing, maintaining, and continuously improving environmental, health, safety, security, and sustainability programs to ensure a safe, compliant, and responsible workplace. This position develops and manages programs that protect employees, the community, and the environment while ensuring compliance with all applicable corporate, local, state, and federal laws and regulations. The role supports all aspects of site EHSS activities and may be assigned responsibilities across any EHSS discipline, including occupational safety, industrial hygiene, fire protection, hazardous materials, environmental compliance, and waste management.

General EHSS Leadership
Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive EHSS programs, policies, and procedures that promote a strong safety culture and ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, DOT, DHS, and state/local regulations.
Provide leadership and technical expertise to ensure continuous improvement in EHSS performance.
Support Responsible Care and RC14001 / OHSAS 18001 / ISO 45001 management systems, including documentation, audits, and management reviews.
Serve as liaison with federal, state, and local regulatory agencies on EHSS matters.
Maintain EHSS metrics, documentation, and compliance records, including OSHA logs, injury reports, incident investigations, and corrective actions.
Safety & Health Programs
Develop and conduct employee training programs on all aspects of safety and health (e.g., PPE, respiratory protection, hazard communication, confined space, lockout/tagout, machine safety, fall protection, bloodborne pathogens, ergonomics, and heat stress prevention).
Conduct regular plant inspections and audits to identify unsafe conditions, recommend corrective actions, and verify compliance.
Facilitate incident investigations, root cause analysis, and development of corrective and preventive actions.
Administer workers' compensation claims, return-to-work, and medical surveillance programs.
Serve as the site's primary OSHA contact and lead compliance efforts with all OSHA regulations.
Environmental Compliance & Waste Management
Ensure environmental compliance for air, water, and waste management programs.
Manage hazardous waste generation, storage, and disposal in accordance with RCRA and other applicable regulations.
Prepare and submit required environmental permits, reports, and documentation.
Support sustainability and waste minimization initiatives.
Maintain accurate records for waste streams, manifests, and recycling programs.
Industrial Hygiene & Sampling
Develop and implement industrial hygiene sampling plans and exposure assessments for noise, air contaminants, and other workplace hazards.
Analyze sampling data and recommend control measures to reduce exposure risks.
Maintain calibration and records for IH monitoring equipment.
Emergency Response, Fire Protection & HAZMAT
Maintain site emergency response programs, contingency plans, and emergency contact lists.
Lead or participate in emergency response teams and facilitate drills for fire, spill, and chemical emergencies.
Manage fire protection systems, inspections, testing, and maintenance to ensure compliance with applicable codes and standards.
Coordinate and oversee HAZMAT preparedness, equipment readiness, and personnel training.
Serve as the Responsible Care code steward for emergency response.
Security
Assist in managing site security operations, including coordination with contracted guard services and compliance with DHS requirements.
Maintain and control site key and lock systems.
Training & Communication
Develop, deliver, and document EHSS training for all employees and contractors.
Coordinate safety committee meetings, prepare agendas and minutes, and track follow-up items.
Communicate EHSS goals, metrics, and achievements to employees and management.
Continuous Improvement
Support and lead initiatives for EHSS performance improvement and cost control.
Collaborate cross-functionally to identify and implement process and equipment improvements that enhance safety and environmental performance.
Serve as a resource for ergonomic assessments and process safety management (PSM) activities.
Other Duties
Participate in audits, inspections, and regulatory reviews.
Perform other EHSS-related duties and special projects as assigned.
Be available for after-hours emergency response support (24/7 as needed).
What skills and experience do I need to be successful in this role?
Bachelor's degree in Environmental, Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Chemical Engineering, or related field; in lieu of bachelors degree, equivalent experience may be considered.
2 years of EHSS experience in a manufacturing or chemical processing environment.
In-depth knowledge of OSHA, EPA, DOT, and DHS regulations and standards.
Demonstrated experience in implementing and maintaining EHS management systems (RC14001, ISO 14001, OHSAS 18001 / ISO 45001).
Strong computer skills (MS Office, SAP, and EHSS databases).
Strong analytical, communication, and leadership skills with the ability to work across all levels of the organization.
Ability to work under pressure and respond effectively to emergency situations.
Willingness to travel up to 25% as required.
What will set me apart?
5+ years of EHSS experience in a manufacturing or chemical processing environment.
Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH), or related credentials.
Personal Protective Equipment (PPE):
At ICL, maintaining a safe and healthy workplace is a top priority. Employees are required to wear appropriate PPE based on the task and environment. This may include safety shoes, gloves, safety glasses, face masks, and, when necessary, full hazmat suits with respirators. Adherence to PPE protocols ensures the safety and well-being of all team members.

Short Description
Compensation at ICL : If you are hired at ICL, your final base salary compensation will be determined based on factors such as geographic location, skills, education, and/or experience. We also offer a generous benefits package (more information on benefits listed below).
Salary Range : $69,000 - $85,000
Annual Bonus Target : 5%, subject to plan provisions.
