Job Details Job ID: 5703305 Application Deadline: Posted until filled Re-Posted: May 18, 2026 4:00 AM (UTC) Starting Date: To Be Determined Job Description Position Title: Food Service Assistant #2 Location: Hutchings Elementary School Reports To: Kitchen Manager, Food Service Director and/or Principal/Assistant Principal Status: Ten (10) month position First day of school for students – Last day of school for students 3 hrs/day; 10:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. – 15 hours/week FLSA Status: Non-exempt Summary: The Food Service Assistant provides support in our student nutrition program by assisting the Kitchen Manager and the Food Service Supervisor in the overall management and organization of the food service program all while providing excellent customer service to staff, students and families. Essential Functions Roamer – must be willing to work at other schools as needed. Hours and times may vary. Hours may increase due to school and position. Help with preparing all food. Clean and sanitize workspace before and after doing food prep. Follow standard recipes and food safety protocols while cooking. Help wash and sanitize pots and pans. Help count out condiment cups/packets. Assist with recording on daily Food Production Records (FPR). Fill buckets with sanitizing solution for cafeteria tables. Replenish food as needed. Help clean and sanitize milk cooler and refrigerators. Assist in putting stock away. Clean and sanitize work area. Sweep and mop the kitchen floor. Break down boxes. Take out trash and recyclables. Must move into FSA #1 position when needed. Must be able to lift 25 lbs. Regular, predictable in-person attendance. Any other duties assigned by the Kitchen Manager or Food Service Supervisor. All job descriptions can change upon the discretion of the Kitchen Manager and/or the Food Service Supervisor. Note: Food Service Employees running a register need to keep all computer register components clean and free of dust. This includes: computer register/monitor, keyboard, mouse, cord and computer stand. Education and Experience High school diploma (or equivalent) and must pass a basic math skills test. Computer Skills Basic computer skills. Qualifications / Skills Ability to perform duties with awareness of District requirements and Board policies / administrative guidelines; Excellent interpersonal skills with ability to communicate effectively, speaking clearly and communicating thoughts succinctly; Ability to react well under pressure, handle and balance multiple demands at one time, work with frequent interruptions and perform duties and tasks at expected levels of professionalism with minimal supervision; Accurate and detail oriented; and Ability to develop effective working relationships with students, parents, teachers, administration and the school community. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to coordinate hands, eyes, feet and limbs in performing semi-skilled movements such as cooking, washing dishes and operation of a computer keyboard, cash register, and telephone. The employee is required to be on his/her feet walking around the cafeteria and food service department building for several hours at a time. The employee is required to exert physical effort in work involving lifting, carrying, pushing, walking, standing, reaching with hands and arms, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching or crawling. Employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 35 pounds from floor to waist height. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision and ability to adjust focus. The work environment is normally indoors with controlled climate conditions. This position requires the employee to work in different building cafeteria and food service departments as needed. The ability to travel via employee’s automobile between buildings is required.
