RN Registered Nurse

Registered NurseWe are seeking one experienced Registered Nurse to provide safe, patient-centered care in the 5SW Day Hospital at the NIH Clinical Center. This is a 13-week contract assignment with the possibility of a long-term or permanent full-time opportunity based on performance and continued staffing needs.Schedule:Full-time day shiftFour 10-hour shifts per week or five 8-hour shifts per week40 hours per weekFinal schedule will be based on the unit's staffing requirements$80,000 - $90,000 a yearMinimum Qualifications:Active, valid, and unrestricted RN license issued by at least one U.S. state, territory, or commonwealthAssociate degree, nursing diploma, or bachelor's degree in Nursing from an accredited institutionSuccessful completion of the NCLEX-RNAt least two years of current acute-care hospital nursing experienceCurrent Basic Life Support certificationACLS certification if required by the clientDemonstrated current clinical competencyEffective English communication skillsComputer literacy and proficiency with electronic clinical documentationU.S. citizenship or lawful permanent resident/Green Card statusPrimary Responsibilities:Assess, plan, provide, and evaluate nursing care for patients receiving day-hospital servicesComplete patient intake, medication reconciliation, focused assessments, and clinical screeningPrepare patients for scheduled treatments, infusions, procedures, or diagnostic servicesAdminister medications, fluids, blood products, and other treatments as ordered and within the RN's authorized scope of practiceMonitor patients during treatment and promptly respond to changes, complications, or adverse reactionsReview clinical information, laboratory results, treatment orders, and discharge requirementsCoordinate care with physicians, nurses, pharmacists, laboratory personnel, and other healthcare professionalsEducate patients and families regarding treatments, medications, side effects, discharge instructions, and follow-up careMaintain accurate, timely, and confidential clinical documentationFollow NIH clinical protocols, infection-control practices, patient-safety requirements, and professional standardsParticipate in required orientation, training, and competency activitiesFloat to another patient-care area when needed, provided the assignment is within the RN's demonstrated competency and scope of practiceAdditional Requirements:Selected candidates must satisfy NIH credentialing, health, immunization, security, fingerprinting, background-investigation, and facility-access requirementsAll licenses, certifications, competencies, and health documentation must remain current throughout the assignmentIdeal Candidate:The successful candidate will be organized, clinically confident, and comfortable coordinating multiple scheduled treatments while delivering safe, efficient, and compassionate patient care.
