divh2EMT-B Position/h2pThe EMT-B is responsible for providing the safe and efficient response, treatment, and transport of all people requesting or requiring emergent or non-emergent medical services. Primary role includes assessing patients, administering basic life support, operating ambulances and documenting care./ph3Key Responsibilities/h3ulliDeliver quality patient care in accordance with clinical policies, statewide protocol, and standards of care/liliAssessing injuries/illnesses and providing basic life support (BLS) on scene and during transport in accordance with statewide treatment protocols./liliAttend to all patients in a courteous, professional manner/liliOperate the ambulance in accordance with safety rules and regulations; company policies; federal, state, and local laws, regulations, and statutes/liliComplete a vehicle and equipment checklist at the beginning of each assigned shift. Inspect and clean the assigned vehicle and all equipment. Ensure compliance with minimum stock requirements, proper function, and cleanliness of all equipment/liliAccurately record patient care, ensuring completion and submitting required paperwork and PCR documentation as required on a daily basis./liliProvide appropriate documentation of patient intervention in the pre-hospital setting/liliAbility to communicate and interact effectively with minimal supervision using good judgment, common sense, and leadership ability./liliHave and maintain a thorough understanding of the principles of emergency medical services at the basic level./liliAbility to communicate and interact effectively and professionally with patients, EMS Agencies, physicians, hospital personnel, emergency service providers, fire department personnel, and the general public./liliAttends all mandated company training functions as required and submits proof of completing equivalent training to the company in a timely fashion./liliMaintains knowledge of and complies with all company policies, procedures, and guidelines at all times./liliMaintains all required certifications as an active EMS provider and supplies valid copies of all certifications and drivers license prior to their expiration dates/liliMust maintain a reliable attendance record/liliPerform daily housekeeping duties at all assigned bases of operation/liliCompletes other duties as requested and assigned/li/ulh3Education/h3ulliHigh school diploma or GED equivalent./li/ulh3Licensure, Certification, Registration/h3ulliCurrent MA Basic EMT certification in good standing by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, Department of Public Health (DPH), Office of Emergency Medical Services (OEMS)./liliCurrent BLS / CPR healthcare provider level certification, including SAED Authorization./liliCurrent valid drivers license/li/ulh3Experience/h3ulli2-4 Years of prior experience preferred/lili0-1 years related work experience required/liliExperience with computer systems required, including web-based applications and some Microsoft Office applications which may include Outlook, Word, Excel./li/ulh3Knowledge, Skills and Abilities/h3ulliCommunicate effectively, both verbally and in writing; ability to understand and carry out verbal and written instructions./liliAnalytical skills to gather and interpret data in situations in which the information or problems are relatively routine./liliAbility to exercise sound judgment while working in a stressful environment/liliPrevious driving experience in a commercial setting a plus/liliCommitment to providing exemplary customer service/li/ulh3Requirements/h3ulliMust be 18 years of age or older/liliAbility to meet the essential duties and physical, mental and sensory requirements of the position at all times./liliComply with UDS drug screening at any and all times/liliSatisfactory background check and MA CORI (Criminal Offender Record Information), verification required annually./liliVerification of an acceptable motor vehicle driving record, verification required annually./li/ulh3Physical Requirements/h3pThe physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met and maintained by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job.
