Description

Maine Oxy is currently looking to fill a Cylinder Filler position to fill helium. This is a full-time year-round position with a great opportunity to grow if you are interested in the industry. This is a Monday-Friday 7 AM-4 PM shift with opportunities for voluntary overtime.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Inspect cylinders prior to filling, following standard procedures as required by government, Maine Oxy, and distributor standards
• Fills cylinders by pressure per regulations and standards.
• Manually sets calibrations to analyze selected cylinders for purity, dew point, and other required qualities.
• Conducts a variety of Safety checks per procedures, such as odor tests, checking caps and valves.
• Accurately labels cylinder.
• Learns the hazards of various gases; size and contents of cylinders by reading and interpreting cylinder labels and the color-coding of tanks.
• Unload/load trucks.
• Compiles with all government and company standards relating to the safe handling of hazardous materials/cylinder gases
• Must demonstrate the capability of external visual inspection according to CGA pamphlet C-6. (Will be trained)
• Ability to safely operate a forklift as required.
• Ability to work independently and under some pressure to meet deadlines

Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• Complies with company and DOT guidelines and procedures relating to loading methods, loading for safety, availability of cylinders, and weight distribution.
• Ability to safely operate a forklift (as required) (Will be trained)
• Must comply with safety/site work rules and regulations and housekeeping standards.
• Must demonstrate the capability of the testing equipment to perform the required tests to the degree of accuracy required by the regulations.
• Ability to work independently and under some pressure to meet deadlines.

Education:

• High School diploma or equivalent;
• Ability to read and comprehend material safety data sheets

Physical Requirements:

• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to see, speak and hear.
• Frequent standing, walking, using hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; may stoop, kneel, or crouch.
• Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
• Ability to perform very heavy workroutinely lift 25lbs to 50lbs, and occasionally lift 51lbs to greater than 100lbs.
• Must be able to work outdoors in temperatures ranging from -10 to over 100 degrees.
• Ability to smell/hear leaking gas from cylinders.
