POSITION 27A32A TITLE: Assistant Wrestling Coach (26-27) EMPLOYMENT TERM: 2026-2027 School year, season varies including flex days BID PERIOD: August 27 - September 2, 2026, 4 pm. DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: Plan, organize, and supervise all aspects of the assigned athletic program, including practices, contests, conditioning activities, team meetings, and related team events. Promote student safety, welfare, andappropriate conductwhile students are under the coach’s supervision, including before, during, and after practices, contests, travel, and team activities. Develop andmaintaina positive team culture that emphasizes sportsmanship, respect, discipline, teamwork, andschoolpride. Support the educational mission of theschoolby encouraging academic success,appropriate behavior, responsible citizenship, and regularschoolattendance among student-athletes. Comply withall applicable board policies, administrative procedures, conference/league requirements, state athletic association rules, and federal/state laws governing student athletics. Communicate and work cooperatively with administrators, athletic personnel, students, parents/guardians, officials,othercoaches, and the public to support the athletic program. Coordinate with coaches and athletic programs atothergrade levelsand schools, when applicable, to promote program continuity and student development. Supervise, account for, and helpmaintainequipment, uniforms, supplies, and assigned facilities in a safe, responsible, and organized manner. Provideappropriate leadershipand direction to assistant coaches and volunteers assigned to the program, consistent withschoolexpectations and administrative oversight. Maintain professional conduct, professional work habits, and positive public representation of theschooland athletic program. Participate in required meetings, trainings, certifications, and professional development;maintainand improve coaching knowledge, skills, and required credentials. Performotherjob-related duties as assigned by the principal, athletic director, orotherappropriate administrator. QUALIFICATIONS: A coach for a WVSSAC sport must be certified as a teacher (or substitute) in the State of WV or complete the National Federal Interscholastic Coaches Education Program as endorsed by the WVSSAC and the State Board of Education, and receive a coaching authorization issued by the WV Department of Education. Must also have or be willing to get current CPR/AED certification. Applicants must be fully credentialed professionals or substitutes or hold a valid WVDE coaching certification before participating in ANY WVSSAC sport coaching duties. Coaching duties must not interfere with other contracted duties held by the successful applicant, and the successful applicant must be available for practice and game times and dates as determined by the principal. Use hands and arms to handle equipment,demonstrateor support drills, distribute materials,operatecommunication devices, and perform routine coaching tasks. Bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, climb stairs, and navigate uneven or changing surfaces such as fields, tracks, courts, dugouts, sidelines, bleachers, and locker-room areas. Occasionallydemonstratesport-specific techniques or movements and move quickly in response to play, supervision needs, weather, injury, or safety situations. Lift, carry, push, or pull athletic equipment and suppliesgenerally upto 25 pounds regularly and up to 50 pounds occasionally, withassistanceorappropriate equipmentwhen needed. Maintain attention, judgment, situational awareness, and emotional control during routine and unexpected situations involving students, contests, travel, and athletic events.
