About the Position

TravelNurseSource is working with Cynet Health to find a qualified Peds Med/Surg RN in Dickinson, North Dakota, 58601!

Job Title: Med Surg/Peds RN Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Medical Surgical Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Day/Night Rotate Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum of 1 year License: Required Certifications: BLS, PALS Must-Have: Pediatric experience preferred but not required Description: Department consists of a mixed adult and pediatric patient population. The unit has a total of 17 beds, with 14 inpatient and 3 observation. Nurse to patient ratios are 1:4 during the day and 1:5 at night. Common diagnoses include UTI, altered mental status, pneumonia, and COPD. RNs are not required to titrate drips. Common medications include electrolytes, hypertensive medications, and diuretics. Nurse assignments include a charge nurse who also takes on patient assignments. There are nurse aides on the unit, with a typical ratio of 2:15 during the day and 1 on nights. Pediatricians are on-call for pediatric patients but are not in-house. RNs primarily troubleshoot equipment such as BiPAP, with respiratory therapists managing vents. Monitoring technology is used, and nurses are responsible for applying tele monitors to patients. Self-scheduling is permitted for shifts. Weekend work may be required as needed. There are no holiday requirements. Floating to other departments may be necessary for one-on-one patient care. The dress code consists of navy blue scrubs. Successful candidates should demonstrate strong communication skills, motivation, and approachability. Teamwork and the willingness to ask questions when uncertain are vital to success. Documentation processes may vary and require careful attention. Initial time-off requests must be submitted upfront. Additional time-off requests will not be accepted after submission. The facility reserves the right to cancel shifts under certain circumstances.
