Pay based on experience

Contractors need more than someone to take an order. They need a sales representative who understands what they’re building, catches details before they become problems, and follows through from the first quote to the final delivery.

Wood Shed Lumber & Hardware Supply is looking for an experienced Contractor Sales Representative to develop lasting relationships with builders and contractors in our area. You’ll earn their business by knowing your products, providing accurate quotes, staying involved in their projects, and being someone they can count on when plans change.

This role calls for initiative and good judgment. You’ll manage your customer relationships, work closely with our inside sales and store teams, and take responsibility for the service you provide.

What you’ll do

• Build relationships with new contractors and strengthen existing accounts
• Meet with customers and visit job sites to understand upcoming projects
• Review plans, prepare or assist with material takeoffs, and develop accurate quotes
• Recommend products and solutions that fit the project and the customer’s needs
• Follow up on quotes, orders, deliveries, and customer questions
• Coordinate with inside sales, yard, and delivery teams to keep projects moving
• Maintain customer and sales records and work toward sales goals
• Resolve issues promptly and keep customers informed

What you’ll bring

Relevant experience is important for this position. We’re looking for someone with a background in contractor sales, lumber and building materials, residential construction, or a closely related field.

You should be comfortable discussing how a project comes together, reading plans or working from material lists, and explaining products to people who use them every day. Just as important, you need the organization to manage multiple projects and the follow-through to keep your word.

Experience preparing quotes and material takeoffs is strongly preferred. Strong communication skills, sound judgment, and the ability to build lasting customer relationships are essential.
