About the Role

The Company is seeking a Vice President of Development and Advancement to play a pivotal role in driving the organization's national growth and visibility. The successful candidate will be a key member of the senior leadership team, responsible for leading fundraising, communications, and strategic partnerships. This role demands an entrepreneurial and mission-driven leader with a proven track record in advancement, particularly in the education or mission-aligned nonprofit sector. The VP will be tasked with cultivating and stewarding high-level philanthropic, corporate, and foundation relationships, and leading a multi-year fundraising strategy to significantly increase annual revenue. Strategic oversight of the company's brand, storytelling, and external communications is also a critical aspect of the position, with a focus on thought leadership that amplifies the company's influence in the national education conversation. Applicants must have at least 10 years' of senior leadership experience in advancement, with a strong background in fundraising strategies that drive substantial growth. A deep understanding of K-12 education systems, policy, and teacher development is essential, as is a history of capturing large grants and building new revenue streams. The role requires an excellent communicator with exceptional relationship-building, storytelling, and public-speaking skills, as well as a collaborative leader with a track record of building high-performing teams. Experience in a fast-paced, growth-oriented nonprofit or education organization is preferred, and an advanced degree in a relevant field is a plus. The ideal candidate will be comfortable navigating complex political, philanthropic, and policy landscapes and will be committed to the mission of closing the opportunity gap in education for underserved and historically marginalized children.
