Payroll Specialist

Payroll Specialist1-year contract + extensionHybrid in Houston, TXResponsible for the processing of biweekly and monthly payrolls for 1200 to 2,000 employees located in various states. Payroll processing includes reconciliation of earnings, deductions, and taxes, running audit reports and submitting reconciliations to management for review and approval.Work with managers to ensure that the worked time for non-exempt employees is approved by the established deadline.Payroll Input as needed.Payroll Tax Adjustments and company reclasses.Process On Demand Payments & Manual payments as needed.Process EIB LoadsRun/audit Payroll Integrations.Tax and Payment elections set-ups/audits.W2 Corrections as neededGarnishment/Tax Levy Set-ups.Stuffing and distribution of payroll checks and pay slips.Manage Case Management and the Payroll Help Line - Assist Human Resources, Benefits, and employees with payroll related questions.Special projects and responsibilities as assigned.2 years corporate payroll process experienceGeneral knowledge of payroll principles including overtime and tax withholding calculations.Excellent organizational skillsOvertime when needed.Good problem solving and mathematical skills.Strong Excel and Word skills.Excellent time management and organization skills.Excellent customer service skills and work ethic.Excellent communication skills, oral, written and listening.Handle strict daily deadlines and be able to prioritize work.Work independently and work well as a team player.The candidate must be willing to work in the office during the training period and as needed.Possibility for the role to convert to full-time or be extended.EEO EmployerApex Systems is an equal opportunity employer.
