Veterinary Kennel Technician

Frontier Veterinary Clinic is a full service veterinary hospital that provides thorough, compassionate, modern, and affordable care for your animals. Formerly known as Mobile Veterinary Clinic, we have been serving Abilene's pets and their families since 1976. Job duties include, but are not limited to: Kennel technicians are responsible for the day-to -day care of pet resort guests and for the cleanliness and sanitation of the Pet Resort interior and exterior. This includes feeding, watering, cleaning, walking, bathing, and monitoring the well-being of dogs and cats. The kennel tech will also occasionally assist doctors and technicians with pet restraint for procedures or anesthesia induction. Qualifications A love for animals and the ability to warmly welcome and compassionately care for pets is essential. Kennel technicians need excellent communication and client service skills in order to admit and discharge pets and reassure nervous “parents” that their pets are well-cared for at our facility. The kennel techmust remain professional and courteous to clients and co-workers while handling multiple tasks at once with many interruptions. kennel techs must be able to empathize with clients and remain compassionate and well-mannered under all circumstances. kennel techs should have a firm belief in the quality of care we provide and communicate this sense of assurance to our clients. The kennel techmust learn and understand our services and health recommendations and be able to clearly communicate these to our clients. Kennel techs must have sufficient physical strength, mobility, and stamina to lift and/or move heavy pets and objects, the dexterity and confidence to handle and administer medications or bathe pets who may be scared or aggressive, and the ability to monitor pets for signs of distress or disease.
