Physical Therapist

Job Overview This position is responsible for screening, testing, evaluating, diagnosing, and treating injuries, diseases, and disabilities using physical therapy procedures and modalities in accordance with standard physical therapy practices. The role includes consulting, educating, and training patients, families, and caregivers, and collaborating with care teams and stakeholders to deliver quality, patient‑centered care. Responsibilities Promotes the mission, vision, and values of Intermountain Health and abides by service standards. Provides skilled physical therapy services, staying updated on standard practices for different patient groups; conducts evaluations and treatments according to professional standards (APTA), considering diagnosis, history, and physician referrals, and develops care plans with specific goals based on patient assessments. Meets established productivity standards for the department or service line. Maintains thorough and timely patient records, completes patient billing accurately and promptly. Communicates effectively with patients, families, physicians, and healthcare providers about patient needs and goals. Manages all aspects of patient care and education, including supervision of assistants, aides, office staff, and students to ensure high‑quality care. Participates in and promotes continuing education opportunities for self and staff, seeking new learning opportunities according to licensure requirements. Engages in quality improvement processes, including safe equipment use, improving clinical outcomes, patient access, patient experience, and all aspects of the Intermountain Operating Model; participates in utilization review audits. Participates in patient care conferences, interdisciplinary meetings, staff meetings, and necessary professional and work groups in collaboration/consensus with the leader. Contributes to program development and marketing strategies to grow the physical therapy program and achieve department goals. Basic Life Support (BLS) for healthcare providers. Basic computer skills. Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills. Experience and skill sets with the target population for the job setting. Current driver’s license, reliable transportation, and acceptable driving record. Physical Requirements Ongoing need to see and read information, labels, assess patient needs, operate monitors, and identify equipment and supplies. Frequent interactions with patient care providers, patients, and visitors that require verbal communication, hearing, and understanding of spoken information, alarms, needs, and issues quickly and accurately, particularly during emergency situations. Manual dexterity of hands and fingers to manipulate complex and delicate equipment with precision and accuracy; includes frequent computer use and typing for documenting patient care. Expected to lift and utilize full range of movement to transfer patients; also to bend to retrieve, lift, and carry supplies and equipment of varying weights, up to and including heavy items. Need to walk and assist with transporting/ambulating patients and obtaining and distributing supplies and equipment; includes pushing/pulling gurneys and portable equipment, including heavy items; often required to navigate crowded and busy rooms with equipment and power cords on the floor. May be expected to stand in a stationary position for an extended period of time.
