Medical Assistant PositionWe are hiring full-time positions. A sign-on bonus of $1,000 for Medical Assistants and $1,500 for Certified Medical Assistants, payable in installments.Job SummaryThe Medical Assistant is a graduate of an accredited school of Medical Assisting and is certified accordingly. The Medical Assistant practices within their scope as directed by the agency's Medical Director and the American Association of Medical Assistant (AAMA). The Certified Medical Assistant provides evidenced-based practice as per the Nurse Practice Act and other governing bodies and demonstrates growth in the ability to care for patients with chronic diseases; requires consultation with experienced clinicians and benefits from feedback; reports directly to the Director of Nursing and/or designee such as: Lead Licensed Practical Nurse and/or Registered Nurse.Essential FunctionsMaintains professionalism while conducting agency businessPrioritize and perform multiple tasksRecognize and respect cultural diversityUtilizes medical terminology appropriatelyPerforms basic administrative medical assisting functions per agency guidelinesSchedule, coordinate, and monitor appointments where necessary to include conducting follow-up telephone callsComprehends and adheres to managed care policies and proceduresUtilizes electronic technology to receive, organize, prioritize and transmit information per agency guidelinesActively participate in the referral processClinicalTriage all clients (including pediatrics) scheduled to see a provider according to agency policy and proceduresWorks directly with the providers as assignedConducts patient history and chief assessmentsDocuments demographical and/or medical information into the agency's electronic medical record with the ability to retrieve specific data accordinglyApply principles of aseptic technique and infection controlComply with quality assurance practicesCollects and processes specimensPerforms inventory of supplies and equipmentPerforms routine maintenance of administrative and clinical equipmentTravels from site to site, when necessary, to provide direct patient care, triage, and/or other duties as assigned. Must maintain a valid Virginia driver's license and update HR where necessaryAssist in teaching health promotion and disease processesPractice within legal and ethical boundariesComplies with established risk management and safety regulationsReview the next days schedule and prepare huddle informationPerforms other duties as assignedEducation and ExperienceMust be certified to practice in the state of Virginia, current CPR (BLS) certification is required.Experience as a Certified Medical Assistant within a community health and/or public health setting is preferred.At least one year or more of experience.
