Growing together.UnitedHealthcare is seeking a Senior Director of Technology Product Management to lead the strategy, modernization, and transformation of a portfolio of health insurance and underwriting platforms. This leader will build and mature a formal product management organization, drive platform consolidation and modernization, and establish AI-enabled product development practices across the portfolio.The Senior Director will lead and grow an existing team while building the product management capabilities, operating model, and talent needed to support an expanding portfolio of business-critical platforms. Success requires balancing strategic vision with execution and partnering closely with engineering, architecture, data, operations, and business leaders to deliver measurable customer and business outcomes.The ideal candidate brings strategic product leadership, enterprise transformation experience, organizational change capability, and expertise in AI-enabled product development. They can build and scale product organizations, influence executive stakeholders, navigate complex matrixed environments, and deliver measurable business outcomes through modern product management practices.You'll enjoy the flexibility to work remotely from anywhere within the U.S. as you take on some tough challenges. For all hires in the Minneapolis or Washington, D.C. area, you will be required to work in the office a minimum of four days per week.Primary Responsibilities:Define and execute the product strategy, vision, and multiyear roadmap for a portfolio of health insurance and underwriting platformsBuild and mature a formal product management organization, including its operating model, organizational structure, role clarity, talent development, and capability expansionLead end-to-end platform strategy and modernization across insurance capabilities and workflows, including underwriting, enrollment, billing, servicing, and related operational processesDrive platform rationalization, consolidation, and modernization initiatives focused on simplification, scalability, operational efficiency, and customer outcomes.Establish product management standards, operating rhythms, governance practices, and outcome-based performance measuresLead product portfolio planning, investment prioritization, and resource decisions based on organizational goals, customer needs, market insights, and measurable business valuePartner with engineering, architecture, data, operations, and business leaders to deliver integrated products and platform capabilities at scaleEstablish and advance AI-enabled product development practices, including responsible AI adoption to improve workflows, decision-making, operational efficiency, and customer experiencesBuild and develop product leaders and teams through modern product management practices, organizational change, and outcome-based decision-makingApply customer, market, operational, and regulatory insights to product strategy, problem definition, roadmap development, and investment decisionsLead organizational change supporting new product operating models, modernization efforts, and cross-functional ways of workingFoster a culture of innovation, accountability, continuous improvement, and customer-centered decision-makingYou'll be rewarded and recognized for your performance in an environment that will challenge you and give you clear direction on what it takes to succeed in your role as well as provide development for other roles you may be interested in.Required Qualifications:10+ years of progressive product management experience, including building, scaling, or transforming product management organizations and developing product leaders3+ years of experience leading modernization and transformation of complex enterprise platforms, including portfolio rationalization, platform consolidation, or large-scale operating model changeExperience owning product strategy, roadmap prioritization, and investment decisions for a portfolio of products, platforms, or business capabilitiesExperience leading adoption of AI-enabled product development practices or AI-enabled products at scaleExperience building or transforming product management operating models and leading teams through organizational change within large, matrixed organizationsExperience leading cross-functional initiatives involving engineering, architecture, data, operations, and business leadershipExperience using customer, market, operational, or regulatory insights to influence product strategy and investment decisionsExperience leading products or platforms subject to regulatory, compliance, audit, or governance requirementsPreferred Qualifications:MBA or advanced degree in business, technology, engineering, or a related fieldExperience leading product organizations within healthcare, health insurance, financial services, or another highly regulated industryExperience supporting underwriting, pricing, risk, enrollment, billing, claims, benefits administration, servicing, or other core insurance capabilitiesExperience leading large-scale platform modernization, cloud transformation, technology simplification, or legacy-system consolidation initiativesExperience leading product strategy across complex customer journeys and enterprise platforms, including AI-enabled capabilities and responsible AI practicesPay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, we offer benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). The salary for this role will range from $159,300 - $273,200 annually based on full-time employment.
