Warehouse Automation Systems Reliability Engineer

Time type: Full time | Shift: Wed–Sat, every other Wednesday, 5:00pm–5:00am

Your Mission

Safeguard uptime, quality, and safety across Symbotic’s robotic material handling ecosystem by blending real-time monitoring, rapid troubleshooting, and continuous improvement.

Outcomes You’ll Own

• Real-time surveillance of automated adapters, vertical lifts, and robotic vehicles to ensure stable, predictable performance.
• Advanced triage and resolution of system and operational faults; coordinate escalations to restore production swiftly.
• Clear, concise communication of technical issues to site teams and customers; align actions and timelines.
• Structured documentation of incidents; partner with engineering to implement root-cause corrections.
• Training and on-the-floor support for operators across automation equipment, warehouse management systems, and related IT concerns.
• Capability to backfill key Symbotic on-site roles to maintain continuity.
• Drive standardization and CI initiatives that elevate throughput and safety.
• Adhere to OSHA, Symbotic, and customer safety practices every shift.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical/Software Engineering, Computer Science, Automation Engineering, or similar—or equivalent experience.
• 2+ years in automated systems environments.
• Exposure to/ability to learn PLCs (Allen-Bradley, Siemens), ABB robots, and software (SQL, Linux, Python).
• Hands-on experience assembling, operating, and troubleshooting robotics and electro-mechanical systems.
• Thrives under pressure; comfortable reprioritizing in dynamic settings.
• Collaborative learner with a strong sense of urgency.

Environment & Physical Conditions

• Valid driver’s license; travel by car and/or air to client/customer sites.
• Personal credit card required; submit expenses bi-weekly for reimbursement to Symbotic.
• Frequent walking and reaching.
• Regular work at heights up to 45 feet and in 24-inch restrictive spaces; standing, climbing/balancing, stooping/kneeling/crouching/crawling required.
• Lift/move up to 50 pounds regularly.
• Strict compliance with lockout/tagout and fall-protection safety protocols.
• PPE (hard hat, safety vest, steel toes, eye/ear protection, fall protection) required at construction sites or as safety rules dictate.
• Climb steep stairs; routinely navigate multi-level automation via stairs.
• Operate near elevated railings.
• Work in temperature ranges from 105&degree; to 32&degree; F; sheltered from weather but not temperature.

Compensation & Benefits

Base salary range: $71,000.00 – $97,900.00, dependent on job-related skills, knowledge, and experience. Benefits include medical, dental, vision, disability, 401(k), PTO, and/or other benefits.
