AV Installation Technician – Healthcare & Commercial

Full-time, hourly | $24–$28 per hour, based on experience

Cogent Technology Resource is hiring an AV Installation Technician to install and service audiovisual systems in hospitals, clinics, and commercial spaces. This is a hands-on field role for someone who takes pride in secure mounting, clean cabling, careful testing, and a finished installation that works for the people using it.

Our projects include displays, cameras, microphones, speakers, conferencing equipment, AV racks, and related low-voltage systems. Because much of our work takes place in active healthcare facilities, you’ll need to work safely and professionally around clinical staff, patients, and ongoing operations.

What you’ll do

• Install and service AV equipment in healthcare and commercial spaces, including conference rooms, training rooms, and other shared work areas.
• Mount and align displays, projectors, cameras, speakers, microphones, and related hardware.
• Pull, terminate, label, and test Cat6, speaker, control, and other low-voltage cabling.
• Build and dress AV racks and keep cabling organized and accessible for future service.
• Read drawings, elevations, and wiring diagrams; flag field conditions that differ from the plan.
• Test installed systems, troubleshoot issues, and document completed work.
• Coordinate with other technicians, project managers, contractors, and customer staff.
• Maintain tools and assigned vehicle stock, and leave work areas clean and safe.

What we’re looking for

• At least 3 years of hands-on AV installation experience .
• Strong skills in mounting, cabling, cable management, labeling, and finish work.
• Ability to troubleshoot equipment and connections methodically.
• Comfort using ladders, lifts, and working overhead or in confined spaces.
• Ability to lift and move equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
• Basic computer skills for email, work documentation, and service tickets.
• Professional communication and the ability to work both independently and with a crew.
• Valid driver’s license and a driving record that meets company vehicle requirements.
• Ability to meet customer site access requirements, including applicable background screening, drug screening, and healthcare credentialing.
• Availability for occasional evening or weekend work and approximately 10% overnight travel.

Helpful experience

• AV installation in hospitals, schools, or corporate environments.
• Microsoft Teams Rooms, Zoom Rooms, Webex, or related conferencing hardware.
• Crestron, Extron, Q-SYS, or other AV control systems.
• IP networking for AV devices.
• Structural mounting, backing, and blocking for displays and equipment.
