Description

The Department of Corrections (DOC) mission is to protect the citizens of the Commonwealth and to provide asafe, secure and humane environment for staff and offenders in carrying out the mandates of the legislativeand judicial processes; and, to provide opportunities for offenders to acquire skills which facilitate non-criminal behavior.

Roderer Correctional Complex is seeking skilled applicants for an Electronic Technician III on site at theinstitution. This position coordinates and performs the duties of technicians in the field of electronicsand electronic component system.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Act as lead worker in conducting and performing technical work in the installation, maintenance, andrepair ofelectronic component systems, electronic recording, monitoring or measuring devices, and otherelectronic equipment and devices.
• Perform duties of technician particularly in more difficult and technical areas.
• Coordinate shop and field repair work to be performed.
• Maintain technical records and reports of maintenance and repairs.
• Conduct tests of electronic equipment to evaluate performance and recommend corrective procedures.
• Provide assistance to technicians in the interpretation and performance of technical problems andprocedures.
• Interpret blueprints and technical drawings for technicians.

Minimum Requirements

EDUCATION: High school graduate.

EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR SKILLS: Three years of technical experience in the installation, maintenance, and repair of electronic equipment.

Substitute EDUCATION for EXPERIENCE: Technical training in electronics or a related field will substitute for the experience on a year-for-year basis.

Substitute EXPERIENCE for EDUCATION: Additional technical experience will substitute for the education on a year-for-year basis.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS (AGE, LICENSURE, REGULATION, ETC.): NONE

Working Conditions

Work is typically performed in an office and/or electronic shop.

Probationary Period

This job has an initial and promotional probationary period of 6 months, except as provided in KRS 18A.111.
