Role Description This volunteer Cell Culture Lab Technician/Scientist role is a hybrid position based in the Washington DC–Baltimore Area, with some work-from-home activities acceptable depending on project needs. Day-to-day responsibilities may include maintaining cell lines, preparing media and reagents, performing aseptic techniques, and monitoring cell growth and health. The role will support routine lab operations such as equipment setup, calibration checks, inventory management, and documentation of experimental procedures and results. The volunteer will assist with quality control checks, data entry, and basic analysis to ensure reliability and reproducibility of experiments. Collaboration with other team members on experimental planning, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement of lab workflows is expected, along with adherence to safety protocols and good laboratory practices. Qualifications Candidates should possess core laboratory skills, including basic wet lab techniques, aseptic handling, and familiarity with laboratory safety and good laboratory practices. Candidates should possess experience with laboratory equipment such as biosafety cabinets, incubators, pipettes, centrifuges, and microscopes, including routine care and correct usage. Candidates should possess quality control awareness, including attention to protocol adherence, record-keeping accuracy, and consistency in sample handling and experimental conditions. Candidates should possess analytical skills, including the ability to interpret basic experimental data, identify anomalies, and communicate observations clearly to the team. Candidates should possess experience relevant to laboratory technicians or cell culture support roles, including assisting researchers, following detailed instructions, and contributing to team-based projects. Additional beneficial qualifications include prior cell culture experience, familiarity with sterile technique, strong organizational skills, and comfort working in an early-stage, evolving startup environment. An academic background in biology, biotechnology, bioengineering, or a related field (completed or in progress) is preferred but not strictly required for motivated candidates with demonstrable lab experience. #J-18808-Ljbffr Undisclosed Biotech Startup
