Overview
We are seeking experienced Grant Administration & Development Consultants to support a growing behavioral health program with multiple clients. This role is ideal for a professional with deep expertise across the full grant lifecycle , including administration, compliance, and federal grant development. This is a fully remote, flexible, on-demand consulting opportunity , offering the chance to contribute to high-impact programs while collaborating with internal stakeholders and external partners.
Key Responsibilities
Grant Management & Administration
Oversee the full lifecycle of multiple grants (pre- and post-award), including compliance, reporting, and closeout
Manage multiple funding sources, ensuring accurate tracking, allocation, and audit readiness
Lead process improvement initiatives to strengthen grant administration and operational workflows
Prepare and manage invoicing for funding agencies and subcontractors
Compliance & Audit Support
Ensure adherence to federal, state, and grant-specific regulations
Support internal and external audits, including coordination and resolution of findings
Maintain documentation and reporting standards to ensure audit readiness
Subrecipient & Stakeholder Coordination
Function as a primary liaison for external partners and subcontractors, including academic institutions
Ensure timely access to documentation, reporting, and audit support materials
Monitor fund utilization and program eligibility requirements to maintain compliance
Grant Development & Strategy
Lead and/or support the end-to-end grant application process, including opportunity identification, strategy, and submission
Develop compelling grant narratives aligned with federal agency requirements (e.g., SAMHSA, HRSA, VA)
Partner with internal teams to design programs and align funding strategies with organizational goals
Budget Development & Financial Oversight
Build and manage grant budgets in compliance with funding guidelines
Develop detailed budget narratives and justifications
Collaborate with finance stakeholders to align budgets with operational plans
Rapid Response Execution
Provide high-impact support during compressed RFP timelines (typically 30–45 days)
Integrate quickly into fast-paced, “all-hands-on-deck” submission efforts
Deliver complete, high-quality proposals under tight deadlines
Process Improvement & Advisory
Advise on grant readiness, internal workflows, and best practices
Help strengthen internal capabilities in both grant development and compliance
Contribute to long-term funding and program growth strategies
Required Qualifications
Proven experience in grant administration (pre- and post-award)
Extensive experience with federal grant writing and development (e.g., SAMHSA, HRSA, VA, or similar agencies)
Strong knowledge of grant compliance, financial tracking, and reporting requirements
Demonstrated expertise in grant budget development and narrative writing
Experience managing multiple funding sources and complex grants
Ability to work effectively in fast-paced, deadline-driven environments
Strong analytical, organizational, and process improvement skills
Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence and collaborate across stakeholders
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in behavioral health, healthcare systems, or nonprofit environments
Familiarity with subrecipient management and academic partnerships
Prior consulting or advisory experience in on-demand or fractional roles
Work Structure
Fully remote engagement
Ability to quickly ramp up and scale support based on project needs
Workload aligned to federal grant cycles, with peak demand typically occurring in Q4 and in Q1
