Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Medical Surgical Duration: 13 Weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 1+ year required License: Valid Michigan RN License required Certifications: BLS, ACLS, CPI, NIHSS Must-Have: - Travel experience preferred - Must be willing to float to other Medical Surgical units - Ability to work with a variety of staff, including RNs, LPNs, and Techs - Holiday coverage is required; however, any requested time off during holidays must remain flexible to accommodate staffing demands Description: This position is for an experienced registered nurse specializing in medical surgical care. The nurse will work in a unit that experiences high patient turnover and is focused on the constant reassessment of patients for discharge readiness. The nurse will be responsible for admitting and discharging patients rapidly. Staffing ratios are typically 1:6 during night shifts and may flex based on patient needs. Nurses will float to other medical surgical units as necessary, typically once a week. Weekend coverage is required, typically every other weekend. The unit supports a variety of patients and staffing, including nurses, LPNs, and technicians. Candidates must demonstrate strong prioritization skills and excellent customer service. They must also be able to handle patient surges and heightened patient ratios. Familiarity with charting systems, particularly Epic, is preferred. Additional skills such as managing various medical conditions and equipment are necessary.
