Med Surg RN (Registered Nurse) in Mattoon, IL

Capstone Healthcare Staffing is seeking a dedicated Med Surg RN (Registered Nurse) for an assignment in Mattoon, IL within the Healthcare & Medical Services department. In this Med Surg RN role, you will provide direct nursing care to adult patients on a medical-surgical unit, performing comprehensive assessments, monitoring vital signs, administering medications and treatments, and responding promptly to changes in patient condition. You will utilize strong clinical judgment to prioritize care, manage multiple patients, and collaborate closely with physicians, advanced practice providers, and interdisciplinary team members to develop, implement, and evaluate individualized plans of care. Responsibilities include initiating and managing IV therapy, wound care, post-operative care, telemetry or cardiac monitoring as applicable, and ensuring accurate and timely documentation in the electronic medical record.
You will educate patients and families on diagnoses, medications, discharge instructions, and ongoing care needs, supporting safe transitions from hospital to home or other care settings. The Med Surg RN will delegate appropriate tasks to LPNs and CNAs, maintain infection control and safety standards, and participate in quality and performance improvement activities. The position requires strong communication, critical thinking, and time-management skills, as well as the ability to remain calm and effective in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment.
