Job Description PRN Registered Nurse II – ENT Clinic (26000195). This PRN (as-needed) position is not eligible for benefits and requires employees to work 4 shifts per month, with at least one weekend shift. Primary Location District of Columbia — Washington Work Location CN Hospital (Main Campus), 111 Michigan Avenue NW, Washington, 20010 Responsibilities and Functional Accountabilities Transformational Leadership: Contribute to Magnet re-designation by updating professional profile, initiating council involvement, committees, task forces, and/or community outreach; demonstrate critical thinking and problem solving during patient care; communicate plan of care and advocate for patients; initiate escalation of issues using the chain of command; use hand‑off processes; maintain collegial and respectful relationships with ancillary staff; support management decisions and role model empathy and desire to help others. Structural Empowerment: Maintain regulatory requirements such as license and BLS; plan attendance at mandatory education and professional activities; provide timely peer review evaluations; pursue departmental goals while ensuring adherence to national safety standards; collaborate with the healthcare team and model professional behavior; use available resources and know when to escalat. Exemplary Professional Practice: Use assessment data from patient and family to complete database and plan of care within identified timeframes; demonstrate clinical skills with complex patients; prioritize and organize care for rapidly changing patients; document at the highest standards; anticipate educational needs and verify with patient and family; role model organizational skills and adaptability; demonstrate caring in encounters, evidenced by feedback and increasing satisfaction scores. Safety: Speak up about unsafe behavior or performance; continuously validate information for decision making; stop and resolve uncertainty; communicate clearly and timely; promote safety for patients, families and coworkers; practice Stop‑Think‑Act‑Review to self‑check behavior. New Knowledge, Innovations, and Improvements: Identify operational improvements through quality improvement; pursue self‑learning; base care on evidence and benchmarking. Qualifications Minimum Education: BSN from an approved school of nursing (Preferred) Minimum Work Experience: 2 years RN experience (Required) Required Skills/Knowledge: Successfully complete hospital and nursing orientation at Children’s National; keep knowledge base current in specialty area. Required Licenses and Certifications: Registered Nurse in District of Columbia (Required); Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) (Required).
