Under the general supervision of nursing leadership, the Staff Registered Nurse (Tertiary Care) delivers high‑quality, individualized patient care in alignment with the Lahey Clinic Professional Practice Model, the Massachusetts Nurse Practice Act, and ANA Standards of Practice and Code of Ethics. The RN‑patient and family relationship, continuity of care, clinical accountability, and safety are central to this role. What You’ll Do Provide comprehensive, patient‑centered care considering physical, psychosocial, cultural, spiritual, educational, safety, and age‑specific needs Lead and manage the patient’s plan of care, including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation Coordinate care across the continuum in collaboration with the interdisciplinary healthcare team Demonstrate sound clinical judgment, leadership, and professional practice Delegate and supervise nursing care in accordance with MA Nurse Practice Act (244 CMR 3.0) and ANA principles, maintaining full accountability for outcomes Support health promotion, patient/family education, counseling, and end‑of‑life care when appropriate Professional Practice Expectations Practice safely and ethically within defined clinical and professional standards Maintain current clinical competencies and technical skills relevant to specialty practice Comply with all regulatory, accreditation, and organizational requirements Exhibit Lahey Clinic’s mission and core values in daily practice Key Responsibilities Clinical Judgment & Patient Care Deliver safe, coordinated care to assigned patients and families Conduct thorough patient and family assessments appropriate to the practice setting Develop and implement culturally competent plans of care with defined outcomes and preventive strategies Provide age‑appropriate care across the patient population Evaluate patient responses and adjust care plans as needed Professional Relationships Build collaborative relationships with patients, families, nurses, physicians, and interdisciplinary colleagues Partner with patients and families as active participants in care, guided by Swanson’s Theory of Caring Educate patients and families about illness, treatment plans, and preventive care Support Lahey Clinic’s commitment to community‑based initiatives Clinical Leadership Foster a supportive, learning‑focused practice environment grounded in Benner’s Novice to Expert model Serve as a responsive, engaged team member and clinical role model Act as a teacher and mentor to peers and learners Adhere to unit policies, practice guidelines, and the ANA Code of Ethics Support regulatory compliance and readiness initiatives Clinical Scholarship Uphold high standards of nursing quality and professional practice Demonstrate a commitment to lifelong learning and professional development Apply evidence‑based practice (EBP) in daily nursing care Reflect on clinical experiences to enhance knowledge and practice Organizational Expectations Incorporate Lahey Clinic’s mission, values, and guiding principles into daily work Comply with all organizational policies, behavioral standards, and mandatory education requirements Maintain professional, courteous, and effective interactions with patients and colleagues Participate in quality improvement initiatives at the departmental and organizational level Perform additional duties as needed to support department operations Minimum Qualifications Education: Graduate of a state approved and/or accredited School of Nursing. Licensure, Certification, Registration Current license to practice professional nursing from the Massachusetts Board of Registration BLS certification from American Heart Association or American Red Cross Skills, Knowledge & Abilities Clinical Skills/Technical Knowledge Demonstrates the necessary clinical skills and technical knowledge to provide care for patients according to Nursing Policy and Procedures. Pay Range $37.00 - $95.37 per hour. The pay range listed for this position is the base hourly wage range the organization reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for this position at this time.
