About the Position

TravelNurseSource is working with Malone Healthcare to find a qualified IMC RN in Rapid City, South Dakota, 57701!

• Provide direct patient care across a mixed acuity unit encompassing Med/Surg, Telemetry, and Intermediate Care levels, with patient ratios adjusted based on acuity (1:4 IMC, 1:5 Med/Surg Telemetry, 1:5-6 long length of stay)
• Administer and titrate a variety of medications including oral, IV, IM, and SQ routes; manage titratable vasoactive and other drips including Heparin, Insulin, Cardizem, Amiodarone, Esmolol, and other antihypertensives/beta-blockers
• Manage peripheral IV, midline, PICC, and central line access; oversee chest tubes, nasogastric tubes, drains, and urinary and fecal collection devices
• Read and interpret telemetry/cardiac monitoring strips; provide care for patients with diagnoses including DKA, CHF, COPD, renal failure, hepatic failure, CVA overflow, pre/post-surgical conditions, and more
• Deliver preventative and restorative skin and wound care; administer blood product transfusions and manage TPN/tube feedings
• Maintain compliance with monthly Pre/Post pain scoring audits - must meet 90% compliance ; may be expected to precept nursing students

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) licensure issued by or eligible in South Dakota
• Minimum 1 year of PCU/RN nursing experience
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS
• Proficiency with Epic EMR (required for all travelers, including first-time travelers)
• Comfort and willingness to accept Med/Surg assignments in addition to IMC-level care
• Must reside at least 100 miles from any facility location to be eligible; permanent staff must wait 1 full year before returning as a traveler

• Prior experience in IMC/Stepdown and Neurology settings; ability to float to Ortho/Neuro/Surgical, Heart and Vascular, Oncology, or Observation units
• Demonstrated experience with drip titration (Heparin, Insulin, Cardizem, Amiodarone, Esmolol, and other antihypertensives/beta-blockers)
• Experience with Omnicell and Alaris systems
• Familiarity with line management, drain/tube management, wound care, and cardiac strip interpretation

• Supportive unit structure includes CNA coverage (1:8), a non-patient-carrying charge nurse, dedicated phlebotomy, IV/VAT team, and Hospitalist and Respiratory Therapy support available 24/7
• Structured orientation program including classroom time, online learning, policy and protocol review, and two precepted shifts on the unit to set travelers up for success
